Locked down 3.1I development by transporting all 3.1I code and configuration changes in process to SBX and replicated changes that couldn’t be transported.
Upgraded SBX to 4.6C/3.0B.
Worked on issues from SBX – created transport requests to move to DV1, TS1, then PR1 clients.
Started user training documentation early.
Tested, tested, testedTested, tested, tested current processes.
No new functionality if it wasn’t needed to replace.
Go live Date 12/16/02 - ON TIME!
Preparation – Cut-over Plan
Ramp down of 3.1I/1.0D2 system
Completed all daily processing (billing, shipping, etc).
Reviewed batch jobs and changed nightly schedule where needed.
Locked all user id’s for transactional data until upgrade was complete.
Ran all batch job reports in sequence.
Goods issued and goods received all delivery documents in the warehouse.
Preparation – Cut-over Plan
Ramp up of 4.6C/3.0B system
Unlocked users and set default settings.
Verified add on applications were working: IXOS, Vertex, Chicor, Roboman, BW delta loads.
Re-created variants not transported (ARun MAS sets, COPA, MRP).
Replaced background job variants & programs as needed.
Posted EDI documents and verified successfully done.
Loaded BW data from COPA.
Ran background jobs in proper sequence.
Integration Testing - Overview
Delta testing only – in phases – did not move to next step until all testing completed in first step.
Routine changes. Did not implement any new functionality unless it replaced current SAP programs.
Background jobs were also tested as part of integration testing (some program names changed)
Allocation (still running old J_3AARN7)
Delivery due list (old SAPMV50S new RVV50R10A)
Billing (variant changes)
MRP (old J_3AMMRPA new RMMRP000)
Rescheduling ATP (old ZZV03V02 new /AFS/SDV03V02)
Integration Testing - Issue Database
Logged 406 issues
346 Resolved before upgrade
52 open prior to upgrade (only 9 high priority)
173 SD issues
83 FI issues
122 MM/PP issues
28 IT/Basis/Misc issues
Integration Testing - Lessons Learned
SD Issues:
Pricing conditions – field catalog missing fields from KOMP structure see OSS note 531835.
SADR table – all addresses are now assigned an address key – now using VBPA table to find manual address.
Credit management - restructured CRM & rebuilt partner index RVV051VB.
ARun Management tool template needed to be created /AFS/ARUN_MGT_SELECTION_TMP_01.
EDI - UPC now linked to the material master.
Integration Testing - Lessons Learned
MM issues
Third party orders with multiple requisitions – short dumps in production after go live.
J4AD, MD04 & ME59 screens needed to have OSS notes applied from Fix Pack 3 & 4 to function properly.
MRP Planning file needed to have OSS notes applied from Fix Pack 3 & 4 in order to reset planning parameters correctly.
Sequence of clean up programs prior to creating new transactions was extremely important!
J_3AMBAC, J_3AMPOC, /AFS/TPOMIGRATION, MRP
Integration Testing - Lessons Learned
OSS Notes:
Needed to apply many OSS notes from Fix Pack 3 & 4.
Strongly recommend upgrading to Fix Pack 4!
Training:
Users were brought in early for training and also assisted in integration testing.
Transition went well for users – for the most part liked the new screens.
Less resistant to change – most accepted new screens immediately.
Post Upgrade - New Functionality
BAPI’s replaced BDC programs.
Reduced steps dramatically in some BDC programs
Still working on some issues (PO create BAPI)
New Enjoy SAP screens were well accepted.
Allows user to navigate easier
Allows some table settings to be customized
Some old transactions were disabled (VL01, ME21, etc) to encourage users to navigate to new screens
Post Upgrade – Changes & Impact
SD changes:
Quantity contract draw process change as of 2.5. See OSS note 591724
Delivery program – season functionality still worked the same, but table changed caused sales order user exit not to work properly (J_3ASEAN table replaced with /AFS/DPRG_KOND)
Delivery due list – parallel processing caused problems.
Mass document change (J4AM) performance is slower.
Post Upgrade – Changes & Impact Allocations:
Management tool allows custom report/selection screens for on-line and batch (via reorganization).
Parallel allocation not turned on due to lack of resources to run job. Having issues with performance of existing J_3AARN job.
MM changes:
Third party sales orders create one requisition for all items instead of multiple requisitions.
MRP status S in J4AD for Third Party orders.
Goods Receipt using MIGO – easier to process manual receipts.
MRP Planning File enhancements and MRP user exits.
