Monitoring Process

The PBIS Team will meet every 20 days to monitor discipline data and the team will strategize and execute a targeted plan of action to deal

with discipline issues.

The team will use the data by issuing behavior incentives and monitor the number of decreases in office referrals/suspensions and also the number of students involved/participating in school-wide behavior

incentives.

The team will ensure that teachers are following all discipline protocols and will reiterate procedures to faculty/staff every 20 days.

The Team will communicate all information/data to staff/parents/students during Faculty Meetings, Parent meetings,

Parent Forums, PLCs, and Class meetings.

SCHOOL PROCEDURESSchool day begins at 7:15 a.m. and ends at 2:15 p.m.

Students are to be in their homerooms at 7:15 am! Students are considered late to school after 7:20.

Students are expected to cross streets only at designated crossings. The crosswalk is located on Sanga directly in front of the school. When walking to or from campus, please set the proper example of safety for your children by only using designated crossings.

DO NOT ALLOW STUDENTS TO CROSS THE STREET IN UNPROTECTED SITUATIONS.

Car riders’ drop-off will be in the front lot each morning and departure will be in the front drive only.

Students are to load cars at the crosswalk area with the faculty monitor. After 2:30, students must be picked up from inside. Students are not allowed to stand in front of the school unsupervised. Please observe the following when picking up or dropping off your children:

Front Entrance The main entrance is for student pick-up. Please pull to the curb as far as possible before allowing your child to get in the car. This entrance is also for walkers. Back Parking Lot This lot is for faculty only. Do not enter this parking area to pick-up or drop-off students. This is also Bus dismissal.

CAFETERIA PROCEDURES• Students will enter the lunchroom quietly.• Students will be seated by gender. • No students are to be on the floor at any time unless

given permission by the monitors in the cafeteria.• Students will wait for monitor’s instructions.• Students will return to their designated section to eat

their lunch and stay seated.• Students will be placed on quiet time when it is time to

be dismissed from the lunchroom.• Teachers will pick up students.

ASSEMBLIES

• Students are to enter the assembly at a “Zero” noise level and in a single file line

• Students are to sit in their assigned homeroom sections

• Teachers are to monitor student behavior during the assembly

• During the assembly students are quiet and engaged with the speaker

• Students are expected to conduct themselves in an orderly and courteous manner during each program. Applause should be generous when appropriate. Whistling, stamping of feet, shouting aloud, booing, and constantly talking will not be tolerated.

• All classrooms will be issued a Hall Pass for student use

• Student must have a Hall Pass to exit class

• Students must raise their hand when asking for help

• Student will turn in homework as designated by the teacher

Teaching the Rules, Expectations and Procedures

• Each grade-level team of teachers is responsible for teaching the common school-wide rules/expectations and procedures to their students during the first week of school for each semester. During this time teachers will review the Student Handbook and Code of Conduct through a power-point lesson and modeling.

• We will conduct grade Level Assemblies the 2nd Week of school and the 1st week of the 2nd Semester.

• Each day during the morning announcements, Mrs. Beach or her representative will re-emphasize the school-wide rules/expectations and weekly character trait.

• Homeroom teachers will further facilitate this process by allowing students the opportunity to discuss the idea and suggestions on how the school-wide expectations and character trait affects them on a daily basis.

Plus/Minus SystemStudents will earn pluses for correct conduct and minuses for misconduct .

Pluses

Added and students earning 25 or more points every 20 days will be invited to assemblies and reward parties as well as being able to attend school activities and field trips. Students may earn pluses for being on task, silent in hallway, helping others, showing respect, being prepared, etc.

Minuses

3 minuses = detention After 2 minuses = parent email or phone call the next infraction is detention1st detention with parent phone call2nd detention and face-to-face parent conference

-next check after 2nd detention is conference with counselor and parent to establish abehavior plan

3rd detention and conference with parent, counselor and administrator to amend the behavior plan

Minuses will also be noted for students who will NOT be invited to attend assemblies, activities and fieldtrips due to behavior.Minuses may be earned for out of uniform, tardy to class, off task, not following directions, selling items,etc.)

Redemption

Students who do not achieve 25 points will have an opportunity during the next 20 day period to redeem themselves and their previous infractions will be forgiven. Minuses will be deleted every 20 day period.

In-School Suspension PlanThe goals of the program are to:

1. Provide an alternative to home suspension as a means of disciplinary action for inappropriate student

behavior.

2. Deliver uninterrupted instruction to students in a safe, rigidly structured environment.

3. Curtail absenteeism that results from suspensions.

4. Modify inappropriate behavior and return the student to their regular classroom environment.

• Students are referred to ISS by the administrative team only.

• An ISS box is located in the main office where teachers will place student assignments for the day.

• ISS teacher will be pick up assignments from the ISS box 1st period and return to box 6th period.

• A student is usually assigned In-School Suspension for a minimum of two days.

• Students are expected to report to the ISS room at 7:30 a.m. with all needed supplies ready to work.

The ISS program begins at 7:30 and ends at 2:15. They are not allowed to talk or sleep.

• Students assigned ISS must complete all assignments given by the regular classroom teacher.

• Credit will be given for regular classroom work completed in ISS on a daily basis. The

• Students will be counted present in their classes. The student may not participate in, or attend, any

school activities including assemblies, field trips, or awards programs while assigned to the ISS

program.
