Redundancy Factor of the IP Traffic Bandwidth, 0.7 is recommended;
Redundancy Factor of the IP Signaling Bandwidth, 0.7 is recommended;
Redundancy Factor of the TDM Traffic Bandwidth, 0.7 is recommended;
Redundancy Factor of the TDM Signaling Bandwidth, 0.2 is recommended;
The bandwidth calculation result should have redundancy for the quality of bearers.
Link Unbalance Factor
Link Unbalance Factor is needed because two reasons:
The first is that transmission of signaling is duplex. The second is that the sending and receiving of signaling is not balance.
The value of Link Unbalance Factor is recommended to 1.6-2, 1.6 for Huawei equipment.

Signaling bandwidth (Kbps) = quantity of subscribers or trunks * traffic of busy hour per subscriber or trunk / average duration per call * number of messages * size of a message * 8 / redundancy factor of the signaling bandwidth / link unbalance factor / 1000
Principle of PPS Calculation
PPS = ROUNDUP( quantity of subscribers * traffic of busy hour / average duration per call number of messages / redundancy factor of the signaling bandwidth , 0)
Note:
Quantity of subscribers or trunks * traffic of busy hour per subscriber or trunk / average duration per call = CAPS (Call Attempts Per Second)
The size of a message means the average size of messages during a call process.
The redundancy factor of the bandwidth is different on different bearers.
The size of a message is different on different bearers.

Realization:
The main objects of NGN signaling bandwidth calculation are the signaling bandwidth of AG, UMG, and SG equipment.
1.Signaling bandwidth of AG is mainly the bandwidth of H.248 and IUA signaling.
2.Signaling bandwidth of UMG is mainly the bandwidth of H.248 and ISUP/ M2UA signaling.
3.Signaling bandwidth of SG is mainly the bandwidth of ISUP / M3UA signaling.
Key parameters:
The subscribers or trunks in the equipment.
Traffic of Busy Hour per Subscriber or per trunk
Average duration per call
Input the above parameters, then the consequent signaling bandwidth will be calculated.

Signaling Bandwidth- Example There are 500 POTS subscribers in the UA5000. Traffic of Busy Hour per
Subscriber is 0.02Erl; Average duration per civil call is 60S. H.248 has 18 messages averagely in a call process. And the size of a message is 266 averagely. Then the signaling bandwidth of the UA5000
= Quantity of subscribers * traffic of busy hour per subscriber / average duration per call * number of messages * size of a message * 8 / redundancy factor of IP signaling bandwidth / link unbalance factor / 1000
=500 *0.02 / 60 *18 * (200 + 66) * 8 / 70% / 1.6 / 1000
=5.7kbps
PPS Calculation
Numbers of PPS= ROUNDUP( quantity of subscribers * traffic of busy hour / average duration per call number of messages / redundancy factor of the signaling bandwidth , 0)=ROUNDUP( 500*0.02/60*18/ 0.7,0 ) = 5PPS
Note: PPS Calculation is in order to make sure how many service borad should be used.

Formula
Traffic bandwidth (Mbps) = quantity of subscribers or trunks * traffic of busy hour per subscriber or trunk * media stream bandwidth of a call / redundancy factor of the traffic bandwidth

Quantity of subscribers or trunks * traffic of busy hour per subscriber or trunk = Traffic
Media stream bandwidth of a call: decided by codec and traffic bearers.

G.711 20ms.
Total bandwidth = traffic bandwidth + signaling bandwidth
=Traffic model*media stream bandwidth of a call /redundancy factor of the traffic bandwidth + signaling bandwidth
=quantity of subscribers * traffic of busy hour per subscriber * media stream bandwidth of a call / redundancy factor of the traffic bandwidth + signaling bandwidth
= quantity of subscribers * traffic of busy hour per subscriber *(Proportion of Local Call + Proportion of Toll Call +Proportion to Other Carrier +Proportion of International Call * media stream bandwidth of a call / redundancy factor of the traffic bandwidth + signaling bandwidth =1000*0.02*(0.5+0.1+0.1+0.1)*95.2Kbps/70%/1000 + 0.011 =2.226Mbps

Bandwidth Between Access Sites-Principle
Bandwidth between access site A and access site B in region S.
Step1: Calculate the A-B traffic (The calculation base on the traffic of A)
− The call ratio of A-B = Proportion of Local Call in A * The total subscribers
in B/ (The total subscribers in region S - The total subscribers in A)
− The traffic of A to B = Total traffic in A * The call ratio of A to B
Step2: Calculate the traffic of B to A (The calculation base on the traffic of B)
− It is the same as Step1.
Step3: Compare the results of Step1 and Step2. Choose the Maximum to put in the
expressions of traffic calculation. Then the consequent traffic bandwidth will be
calculated.

This example describers the Bandwidth Between Access Sites in NGN C5 scenario, for
other scenario please refer to NGN Bandwidth Calculation Reference Guide.

Bandwidth Between Access Sites-Example
There are two sites in region A, site 1 and site 2, subscribers in site1 is 100K, subscribers in site2 is 200K. Traffic of Busy Hour per Subscriber is 0.02Erl, Proportion of Local Call is 80%, The codec is G.711 20ms.
Step1: Calculate traffic between site1 and site2 (The calculation base on the traffic of site1)
Traffic of site1 to site2 = The subscribers in site1 * traffic of busy hour per subscriber * the subscribers in site2 / (the subscribers in region A -The subscribers in site1 ) * Proportion of Local Call
=100K * 0.02 * 200K / (200K + 100K - 100K) * 80% = 1800Erl
Step2: calculate traffic of site2 to site1 (the calculation basing on the traffic of site2)
It is the same as Step1.
Step3: Compare the results of Step1 and Step2. Choose the 3200Erl to put in the expressions of traffic calculation. Then the consequent traffic bandwidth 434.7Mbps will be calculated.

Network Management Bandwidth
The network management bandwidth = ∑ (bandwidth occupied by SoftX3000 * SoftX3000 quantity, bandwidth occupied by UMG8900 * UMG8900 quantity, …) / redundancy factor of Network Management IP bandwidth.

Billing Interface Bandwidth -Principle In NGN, the billing interface bandwidth mainly refers to the bandwidth between the i
GWB and the billing center.
Bill transfer between the iGWB and the billing center is performed once per day /
once per week / once or multiple times per month, instead of in realtime mode. The
billing center obtains bills from the iGWB through FTP, or the iGWB uploads bills to
the billing center. Therefore, the bandwidth requirement presented by bill collection
must be considered.
Bandwidth (Mbit/s) = (number of NGN subscribers * average traffic per NGN
subscriber in the busy hour) / average duration per call * 3600 * size of a bill * 8 *
busy-hour duration per day * period for obtaining bills / bill-obtaining duration /
redundancy factor of the IP traffic bandwidth / 1000 / 1000 / 3600

Billing Bandwidth Calculation Example
Assume that in the target NGN, the busy-hour duration per
day is 6 hours, the period for obtaining bills is 30 days, the
bill-obtaining duration each time is 2 hours, and the size of a
bill is 880 bytes. Thus, the required bandwidth = ((100000 +
5000) * 0.02 + (100000 + 5000 + 500 + 500 + 2300 + 2300)
* 0.02) / 60 * 3600 * 880 * 8 * 6 * 30 / 2 / 0.7 / 1000 /
1000 / 3600 = 62.32 Mbit/s.
