A LETTER TO THE PEOPLE OF LAKE LUZERNE:My name is Mark McLain and over the past five plus years I havehad the great pleasure of serving you on the town board, I havetried my best to meet your needs. For those of you who mightnot know my name, I am the guy that picks up 9N on Sunday af-ternoons during the summer and fall, and the Glens Falls Moun-tain Road about 4 times a year.I have made the decision to resign from the town board for myown personal reasons, to spend more time with my two sons andgrandson, and to be able to do more volunteer work in the com-munity.There will be rumors that I am running for Town Supervisor thisfall, these rumors are wrong and need to stop. I have had a greatworking relationship with the current town board and supervisor.Every nickel I made from being on the town board I have used tobenefit the town, from items like the new computer for the seniorcenter to the food pantry addition project.I would like to thank the current members of the town board, su-pervisor, office staff, highway and building and grounds depart-ment, who took the time to help me learn about doing the townʼsbusiness during my first couple of years.

Thank you,Mark McLain

The charity golf tournament described in the above poster will generate funds to support thenew Community Crisis Fund. The fund originated with last yearʼs tournament, and in itʼs first yearof operation helped several local families in excess of two thousand dollars. The Fund also receivedover eight hundred dollars in donations throughout this past year.It is important to understand that the Fund operates ecumenically. All aspects are conducted with-

out regard to onesʼ religious beliefs. It has to be that way if the Fund is to achieve itʼs primary goal, which is to help any individual or family residing in the general Lake Luzerne-Hadley-Corinth arearecover or deal with a crisis situation. Examples of a crisis would include a home fire, disablingsickness or accident, loss of income, and the like.

The ecumenical nature of the Fund is seen in the makeup of the ad hoc tournament committee, and the ad hoc committee that evaluates each crisis situation and decides how much money is tobe awarded. Of course, the largest ecumenical group are the numerous individuals and merchantsthroughout this area who support the tournament with their contributions. Without their support thetournament, and consequently the Fund, would not be possible.

The golf tournament itself originated seven years ago. It was sponsored by Corinthsʼ Church ofthe Immaculate Conception, and contributed to the construction of a new Parish Hall. Since then, the hall was completed; and two years ago, Immaculate Conception united with Lake LuzerneʼsHoly Infancy Church to form the Holy Mother and Child Parish (HMC). This year HMC welcomesthe Knights of Columbus, Corinth Council 3271, as co-sponsor of the tournament and participantin the Community Crisis Fund. The Fund will contribute to the K of Cʼs charge of conducting charitywork in the community.

The Saratoga Chamber Playersʼ

next concert on Sunday June 12, 2 PM, features Songs andStrings at the Skidmore College Arthur Zankel Music Center. Forthis concert Artistic Director Jill Levy invited the very talented so-prano, Charlotte Dobbs, to join her in the presentation of Debussyand Schubert songs transcribed for voice and strings by cellistEric Bartlett who returns to the local scene after the stunning SCPconcert in April. Joining them are violinist Carol Zeavin, violistJessica Troy and cellist Lindy Clarke.

In addition to the Proses lyriques 3, de fleurs of Debussy andSchubertʼs Ganymed and Delphine, they will presentMendelssohnʼs String Quartet in A Minor, op. 13. The highlight ofthe evening will be Schoenbergʼs String Quartet, no. 2 in F sharpMinor, op. 10 which calls for the soprano to be another chamber“voice.” Ms. Dobbs first sang this last summer at Music from Marl-boro, an experience she called transforming for her.
