Cari Amici di AmCham,in un momento storico di inaspettata difficoltà, gli Stati Uniti si sono dimostrati, ancora una volta, i nostri più grandi Alleati.AmCham Italy, in accordo con la Missione Diplomatica USA in Italia e la Missione Diplomatica Italiana negli Stati Uniti, fin dall’inizio della pandemia che ha particolarmente colpito il nostro Paese, ha avviato un progetto di mappatura delle generose donazioni, sia economiche che “in-kind”, effettuate dalle Corporation americane presenti in Italia. Una straordinaria solidarietà espressa attraverso i quasi 50 milioni di euro donati fino ad oggi (luglio 2020). Nel rispetto delle policy aziendali di ciascuna realtà coinvolta, abbiamo inserito, in rigoroso ordine alfabetico, tutte le aziende che hanno acconsentito alla pubblicazione in questo piccolo volume della donazione effettuata, senza tuttavia svelarne l’importo.Questo Booklet, di valore non solo celebrativo ma anche storico-documentale, resterà negli anni a venire patrimonio di AmCham Italy, della Missione Diplomatica Americana in Italia e del Governo italiano.Auspichiamo che questa iniziativa contribuisca, una volta di più, a render nota ogni grande azione fatta per aiutare il Paese ad affrontare la pandemia e a risollevarsi quando tutto questo resterà solo una triste pagina della nostra storia.

Dear AmCham’s Friends,in a historical moment of unexpected difficulty, the United States have proven, once again, to be our greatest allies.AmCham Italy, in cooperation with the US Diplomatic Mission to Italy and the Italian Diplomatic Mission to the United States, since the beginning of the pandemic that has particularly affected Italy, started a project of mapping all the generous donations, both economic and “in-kind”, carried out by American Corporations operating in Italy. An extraordinary solidarity of almost 50 million euros donated to date (July 2020).In compliance with the corporate policies, we have included, in strictly alphabetical order, all the companies agreed to this publication without however disclosing the amount of their donations.This Booklet represents both celebratory and historical-documentary value, and will remain as heritage of AmCham Italy, the American Diplomatic Mission to Italy and the Italian Government for the future.We hope that this initiative will contribute, once again, to testimony the invaluable support offered to our Country during the pandemic and help Italy to recover and let the past only be a dramatic phase of our history.

Dear AmCham Members, This year has presented some extraordinary challenges due to Covid-19. However, it has also highlighted inspirational solidarity in the international business community, especially between the United States and Italy. Our countries have experienced an unprecedented attack on the health of its citizens and their livelihoods. Our hearts go out to all those affected, as we rebuild and recover. In the course of the battle against this pandemic, I am proud that—above and beyond the aid provided by the U.S. government—U.S. companies have stepped up to support Italy by offering over 50 million euros in donations and assistance. The generosity of these companies has been as varied as the industries they represent. Some have provided services, including logistics to transport medical supplies, guidance to protect patients’ medical privacy, and safeguards to help businesses and governments maintain secure communications. Some U.S. companies have donated their technological expertise and crisis management skills. Others have provided medical equipment, supplies, and free meals. Some U.S. companies have rallied to bridge the digital divide, providing free internet, access to learning platforms, and computers

for students, so they can learn even as schools are closed.

Our business community’s

actions reflect American values. We support our friends

and stand with them in challenging times. And we will continue to stand

strong with Italy and the Italian people in facing the challenges that lie ahead. As we predicted early in the Covid-19 crisis, AmCham’s role has become legendary, helping amplify the virtues of the democratic, capitalist system that binds Americans and Italians as gemelli. Thank you for your steadfast support of U.S. companies in Italy. You should be very proud of your accomplishments, and I am confident you will continue to play a crucial role in the recovery for years to come. Non potrebbe esservi momento più opportuno per fare il punto sulle collaborazioni tra Italia e Stati Uniti. La crisi prodotta dalla pandemia non ha conosciuto confini e ha coinvolto ogni angolo del Pianeta. Abbiamo dovuto gestire una crisi sanitaria che ha provocato un numero terribile di vittime e ci troviamo ora dinanzi alla necessità di rilanciare economie che hanno sostenuto gravi danni.Ma propio durante le crisi emergono con forza i legami che uniscono comunità legate da decenni di salda amicizia. È questo il significato dei rapporti tra i nostri due Paesi. Ne abbiamo avuto conferma negli atti concreti messi in campo dai nostri Governi, dalle nostre comunità e dalle nostre imprese. Le tante aziende che rendono fortissimi i nostri rapporti economici hanno ancora una volta dimostrato di essere il vero tessuto connettivo di una relazione basata su valori condivisi e che puntano a promuovere libertà e benessere personale e collettivo.Questi sono i valori costituivi della nostra associazione. AmCham, che con impegno encomiabile ha favorito raccolte di fondi e materiali nel momento della difficoltà, ha oggi un ruolo essenziale per favorire la ripresa di scambi e investimenti. È per me motivo di grande soddisfazione servire come co-Presidente insieme al mio amico Ambasciatore Eisenberg.Guardiamo al futuro con fiducia e voglia di lavorare. There could not be a more opportune moment to

take stock of partnerships between Italy and the

United States, as the crisis produced by the pandemic has

affected us all, sparing no corner of the Earth. We have had to manage

a health crisis that caused countless victims, and must now relaunch economies that

have sustained serious damage.It is, however, precisely in times like these that the close bonds between communities linked by long-standing friendship emerge all the more strongly. This is the hallmark of relations between our countries, and is reflected in the concrete actions undertaken by our Governments, businesses and very communities. The many companies that make our economic relations so strong have once again proved to be the true connective tissue of a bond based on shared values, and aimed at promoting personal and collective freedom and well-being.These are the founding values of our association. With exemplary commitment, when need was great AmCham was instrumental in raising funds and securing in-kind contributions. Now, it continues to play a key role in encouraging the resumption of trade and investment. It is a great satisfaction for me to serve as co-chairman, together with my friend Ambassador Eisenberg.We look to the future with confidence, and a great eagerness to work. Together, institutions and the productive world will place Italy and the United States once more as leaders in this new phase, distinguished by an innovative, entrepreneurial spirit that will be vital in strengthening the security and wellbeing of our societies. Rappresentare la Camera in un periodo storico come quello che stiamo vivendo è motivo di grande responsabilità e profondo orgoglio.Grazie ad un incredibile lavoro di squadra siamo stati in grado di dimostrare dedizione e impegno, raggiungendo eccellenti risultati in una fase particolarmente difficile per tutti noi. Representing the Chamber in a historical period like the one we are experiencing, is

both a great responsibility and deep pride.

Thanks to an incredible team work, we have been able

to demonstrate dedication and commitment, achieving excellent results in a

particularly difficult time for us all. Now we have to start thinking about the post-emergency: the initiatives and ways to gradually relaunch our social life and our economy with determination.

This volume, which we have created to share our goals and our commitment with our Members and friends of AmCham Italy, as well as our Country, has the ambition to become a point of reference for the transatlantic relationship. It also highlights the fundamental role that AmCham has played to further strengthen the stainless friendship and solidarity between the United States and Italy . In the silence and respect due in this moment of difficulty, we are convinced

that it is right to say that American companies have

shown great closeness and extraordinary solidarity since

the beginning of the pandemic, confirming how the United States have

always been among our dearest friends.We cannot fail to recognize the fundamental role and the great cooperation shown both by Ambassador Eisenberg, thanks to his “sleeves up” approach, and by Ambassador Varricchio. An alliance and friendship that, since the Second World War, has guaranteed the prosperity and stability of our Country, helping us to shape the growth of the Italian economy.American companies care about Italy, its social framework and the communities in which they operate. An affinity that we wish to celebrate with this volume, drawn up thanks to the fundamental coordination carried out for AmCham by Nicolò Cremona, that will remind us, in the years to come, of the crucial support that has come in this tragic moment, without which today we could not testify what we have faced with such relief and hope for the future.
