SUSTAINABILITYSTRATEGYOFCCRPurposeofSustainabilityManagementCCR strategies and approach, while abiding to the local laws and regulations of the countries inwhichthe company operates, aims to increase the sustainability of operations through positivecontributions to biodiversity conservation, cultural heritage preservation and communitydevelopment. CCR continuously strives to refine the company’s comprehension of sustainability, andadopted an annualauditprogramtoreviewsustainablepracticesthroughTravelifeasastrategicpartner.ThisenablesCCRto identifyandminimisetheimpactofoperationson the surrounding ecosystemsandcultures, inordertofurtherimprovethecompany’senvironmental management practices.

Sustainability within the CCR properties is defined as ‘carrying out business in linewith the company’sprime principles of being conscious of global environment issues and the acknowledgement of thecompany’s responsibility towards the environment. While the wellbeing of theguestsandstaffremainsattheforefrontofoperations. ItisCCR’ commitmentto carry out operations in a sustainable manner, taking every step tominimise the operational impact on, and preserve the environment inwhichthecompany operates.

Asoneofthepioneersintheindustry, CCR has generatedsustainable management practices (SMP) toguide the management teams across its resorts in decision- m a k i n g and daily operations of thebusinessbyencompassing fourkeyareas:

I. Environmental – to be actively involved in conserving resources, biodiversity, ecosystems,

landscapesandreducingpollution.II. Socio-cultural – to be involved in corporate social responsibility activities, community

development, promote local employment, fair trade, support local entrepreneurs, respect localcommunities, implement policies against commercial exploitation, responsible sourcing, equitablehiringandcolleagueprotection. All business operations are developed to ensure they do not jeopardise the provision of basicservices, such as water, energy or sanitation to neighboring communities such as DhiffushiIslandnearbyMeeruIslandResort&Spa.CCRalsoassistswiththewastemanagementsystematHinnavaru near Komandoo Island Resort & Spa, and engages in socio-economic activities forDhangethiIslandnearVilamendhooandRasdhooIslandnearVeliganduIslandResort&Spa.Incollaborationandpartnershipwiththegovernment, theownersofCCRalsoassistinnationwideprojects through the NGO, Ali Fulhu Thuthu Foundation (AFTF). AFTF is wholly funded by theowners of CCR, with the aim of partnering for greater impact and reach in communitydevelopment.

III. Quality – any activity that can sustain itself economically through creating competitive

advantages within the industry with inspired service that not only meets, but exceeds guestexpectations. Continuously contributes to the economic well being of the surroundingcommunitythroughlocalownership, employment, purchasinglocalproducts, etc.

regulations (ABTA/FTO and MFDA, Maldives) and assurance measurements are in place toprotect every person on CCR premises.CCR isalsocertifiedwithHACCP,allCCRpropertiesarerecognised by Codex Allementarius and ISO 22000. Regular annual audits are conducted at theresorts byboth international auditors (TourOperators- Travelife, TUI, SGS) and local authorities(MFDA,MinistryofTourism,MNDFetc).
