CORRECTION

I wish to point out a typographical error that occurred in the January, 1977 Journal page 10 concerning the results and complications of our first 500 implantations. In table II the CX is indicated as meaning complications and it does not. The CX means capsulotomy.

In the January, 1978 Journal on page 62 there is a typographical error concerning that I reported that 3% of the lenses I checked for dioptric power showed a 2 to 9 diopter variance from that label, the correct figure of course is 13% of the first 300 lenses that Doctor Snider and I checked showed a 2 to 9 diopter variance from that labeled.

William U. McReynolds, M.D. Quincy, Illinois

IN MEMORIAM

John C. Kuppinger, M.D.

John C. Kuppinger, from Harlingen, Texas, suffered a premature death on December 12, 1977 from a hunting accident.

Dr. Kuppinger was held in highest respect among his colleagues, especially within Texas. But he was renowned outside of his area, especially as a cataract and implant surgeon. Although a quiet, unassuming person, he always stood available to freely transmit his expertise and experience to others.

We shall always remember him as a man of humble stature, true veracity and aggressively pursuing the best way to treat his patients.

John H. Sheets, M.D.

CORRECTIONS

AIOISJ would like to apologize to Dr. C.W. Simcoe and correct two errors it made in the printing of his articles for the 1977 July / October issue (Vol. III, No.3 & 4):

1. Fig. 6, on page 195, should be inverted.

2. Fig. 6 on page 219, was improperly duplicated. The correct illustration appears below:

Fig. 6: (Simcoe, C. W.) Alternative to tying suture to lens.
