Corrections

The treatment of convicted offenders through a system of incarceration,

rehabilitation, probation, and parole; the administrative system by which

these are effectuated.

Goal: prepare to re-enter society

Where the law and medicine meet. Specialist services for people who have a mental health problem and have been arrested, on remand, or

been found guilty of a crime.

stormy personal relationships

Generalized Anxiety Disorder:

Post-traumatic Stress Disorder:

● Triggered by a terrifying event — either experiencing it or witnessing it

The National Commission on Correctional Health Care have specific standards

that need to be met for each type of correctional institution.

1- Universal routine mental health screening performed by corrections staff

during the initial intake or classification stage

-CMHS and BJMHS

2- A more in depth assessment by trained mental health person­nel conducted

within 24 hours of a positive screen

3- A full­ scale psychiatric evaluation when an inmate’s degree of acute

disturbances warrants it.
