    PRODUCT APPLICATION / USAGE

Transstore DTM-KS is typically sprayed but can be used by dipping or even brushing. Maximum performance can be achieved only when the metal surfaces are clean, free of rust, oil, grease, ice and mill scale. The metal substrate should be at a temperature of 60° to 90°F (16° to 32°C) at the time of product application.

Do not mix Transstore DTM-KS with solvents. Do not dilute with water. Use product as supplied.

Recommended spray equipment: Low pressure pneumatic, pressure pot, or airless sprayer.

Mix using paint shaker or stir well before using. When spray painting use an even, steady technique to provide an even coating without runs or voids. Allow parts to dry before handling. 24 hour cure may be required on heavier parts to prevent blocking if parts are stacked together. Oven curing is not required.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTIONWeRP 10T provides the high performance of conventional solvent/oil based rust preventatives without the flash/flame, safety and housekeeping liabilities associated with them. WeRP 10T is a low VOC, non-toxic, lower melt point wax emulsion which deposits a soft greasy amber film when cured. When liquid, the product is nonflammable and can easily be cleaned with detergent and hot water. The thixotropic nature of the product minimizes dripping as well as a uniform film build. When fully cured the grease-like film exhibits excellent high humidity and salt spray protection. As such, WeRP 10T can be used in applying a final preservative coating to production parts for storage or shipment. WeRP 10T is formulated with a multi-metal package to inhibit corrosion on yellow metals and prevents magnetite corrosion due to stacking parts. Optimal coverage is as received in a dip tank, brushed, flow coating or sprayed using an airless spray gun. The lower melt point wax ensures minimal build up and hard crusting at the air liquid interface. The greasy film can be easily removed with a hot 5-10% diluted industrial grade cleaner.

FEATURED BENEFITS• Long term rust protection

    • No flash point or fire point liabilities

    • Easy cleanup

RUST PROOF COMPOUNDS L AND HTRANSIT / HEAVY DUTY RUST PREVENTIVES

PRODUCT DESCRIPTIONRust Proof Compounds are soft film rust preventives designed for relatively long-term protection of both iron and steel. Rust proof compounds are formulated from high melting point petrolatum and a special rust inhibitor system with penetrating and water displacing capabilities.

FEATURED BENEFITS• Excellent long-term rust protection—Petrolatum and special additive sys-

tem form a nonhardening, self-sealing film to protect surfaces against the elements. Good water displacing capabilities ensure that the protective film is also waterproof. The special rust inhibitor system ensures maximum protection against corrosive attack. Good penetrating characteristics ensure difficult-to-reach seams and crevices receive effective corrosion protection.

    • Minimum surface preparation required—The ability to penetrate existing flaky or heavy rust means that little or no preliminary cleaning of metal surfaces is required before application. This penetrating ability makes existing rust easier to remove should it be considered desirable to do so for a better or more economical job.

    • Minimal cost—Self-sealing properties of the protective film minimize the need for touch-ups when film damage occurs through scratches or brush marks. The overall cost of this soft film rust protection is much less than ordinary paint.

    • Easy removal—Soft protective film is readily soluble in petroleum solvent, mineral spirits, or kerosene to enable easy removal when required.

SURFACE PREPARATION, APPLICATION AND SHELF LIFE

Maximum performance of Rust Proof Compounds L and H can be achieved when the metal surfaces are clean, free of rust, water, ice and mill scale. The metal substrate should be at a temperature of 50° to 95°F (10° to 35°C) at the time of product application.

Rust Proof Compounds L and H are formulated to be used as-supplied. The product can be thinned with an aliphatic solvent, however, be advised that doing so will reduce film build and as such will reduce the protective property performance. We advise contacting Chemtool before thinning the product. Ensure uniform consistancy before use.

Shelf life for both products is 2 years, if products are hermetically sealed. Immediately seal Rust Proof Compounds L after use to prevent solvent evaporation.

    PRODUCT APPLICATION

CT HD Penetrating Oil is designed primarily for indoor protection only.

CT HD Penetrating Oil is formulated to be used as supplied. DO NOT THIN CT HD Penetrating Oil. Incorrect thinning will compro-mise film build, dry time, and coverage. Ensure uniform consistency prior to use.d as a spray, however may be easily applied using other methods such as brushing, or dipping.

Used as a corrosion inhibitor maximum performance of CT HD Penetrating Oil can be achieved only when the metal surfaces are clean, free of rust, water, ice and mill scale. The metal substrate should be at a temperature of 50° to 95°F (10° to 35°C) at the time of product application.

Normally a single tank is adequate for dipping operations, however, if parts are extremely wet or dirty and where carry- over is great, a two-tank system will produce the best results. Where water displacement is of primary importance, the dip tank should be equipped with a bottom drain for removing accumulated water. A false bottom tank is desirable to prevent parts from being dipped through rust preventative into water layer below.

DO NOT HERMETICALLY SEAL BAGS IF BAGGING PARTS.

RECOMMENDED SPRAY EQUIPMENT: CT HD Penetrating Oil is a ready to use product. The viscosity is low enough to be easily sprayed using a spray bottle or pneumatic spray gun.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTIONVCI-F Oil is a vapor phase corrosion inhibitor and flushing fluid, which should be used to protect internal tanks from corrosion, flush tanks to disperse debris and offer protection for the external surfaces of parts. It contains less than 15 ppm sulfur and is compatible with fuel, lubricating and hydraulic oils. VCI-F Oil con-tains a special low pour point synthetic ester contact inhibitor blend, which will not varnish, harden or react with cleaner residues left in systems. The volatile corrosion inhibitor blend will protect the head space in “closed systems” such as: engines, transmissions, hydraulic tanks and cylinders, gear housings, fuel tanks and steel drums. The duration of the vapor phase protection provided depends on how well the tank is sealed. Protection for several years can be achieved if the tank is hermetically sealed or bagged with LDPE (>0.125mm thick) plastic and sealed. For incompletely sealed systems periodic endoscope inspection and possible re-application may be required.

FEATURED BENEFITS• VCI-F Oil is often used to protect sheet metal stampings, spare parts, etc. if sealed in >0.125mm LDPE bags.

    • VCI-F Oil is distinguishable from conventional preservative oils as it gives both vapor phase and contact corrosion protection.

    • VCI-F Oil is particularly effective in fuel tanks, hydraulic tanks and ferrous components while in transit or in temporary storage. VCI-F Oil is designed to lift, displace and encapsulate adsorbed water and washer residue from the surface to protect the tank from corrosion and staining.

    DIRECTIONS FOR USE

Adequate protection is achieved at 0.2 to 0.8% volume of VCI-F liquid/volume of internal tank space. The tank should be as dry as possible before the addition of VCI-F Oil. To ensure optimal protection, it is preferred that the oil is fogged into the tank using a 360° pole gun atomizer or wand. After application, if possible, the tank should be rotated 360° from both axes for maximum wetting with at least 10 microns of oil film thickness per square centimeter. This is especially critical in the top portion of the inside of the tank since the top portion of the tank is the most critical area. Be aware of baffles within the tank which may inhibit ade-quate coverage. Using an endoscope to confirm that coverage of VCI-F Oil in the tank is adequate is a way to minimize potential corrosion issues. After coverage, the fuel can be added.

TOXICITYVCI-F Oil is composed of highly refined petroleum distillate and a non-toxic synthetic ester blend. The product contains a relatively small amount of a volatile substance which may be irritating to eyes, skin and mucous membranes. Prolonged exposure to the vapors should be avoided. Consult the SDS for more details.

STABILITYVCI-F Oil is unaffected by ambient temperatures and remains stable (and effective) indefinitely as long as kept indoors in a vapor-tight container. The material should always be placed in a closed container to minimize escape of the Volatile Corrosion Inhibitor.

EFFECT ON NON-METALLIC MATERIALSVCI-F Oil has little to no effect on rubber, painted surfaces, or plastics. Should a question arise, however, because of the wide variance in the composition of these materials, immerse the specimen in a container of VCI-F Oil and maintain at 130°F (55°C) in an oven for 72 hours. Examine the specimen for visible signs of change.

RPAM 70055% NVM AQUEOUS SYNTHETIC CORROSION INHIBITOR

PRODUCT DESCRIPTIONRPAM 700 is a 55% solids in-process aqueous amine carboxylate corrosion inhibitor primarily intended for use as a dilutable fluid to protect, flush, and clean the cooling system/engine blocks during testing of internal combus-tion engines. RPAM 700 is engineered to be fully compatible with ferrous alloys such as cast iron, and steel, “white metals” (aluminum, zinc, magne-sium) and “yellow metals” (copper, brass, and bronze) including all alloys of those metals. RPAM 700 contains a select blend of volatile corrosion inhib-itor (VCI) components such that when the liquid phase wets the substrate and is drained, the thin film emits these components to further protect the headspace against corrosion allowing engines to be shipped without coolant. Wetting agents have been incorporated into RPAM 700 to allow for a more even film coverage especially for complex surfaces and geometries.

Because of the full compatibility and the VCI quality of RPAM 700, the product can be used to protect any high value closed loop systems such as radiators and heat exchangers. If the tank is to hold gasoline, diesel or other oil soluble hydrocarbon it is advised to fully dry the tank prior to shipping to prevent trace water contamination. To ensure the VCI does not evaporate from the headspace it is advised that system is capped and sealed. RPAM 700 is compati-ble with all high grade elastomers such as fluorinated or acrylonitrile that it may come in contact with.

RPAM 700 contains no phosphates, silicones, nonylphenols, dicyclohexylamine (DCHA), diethanolamine (DEA) or nitrites and is compounded with components generally regarded as safe for greater operator acceptance. RPAM 700 is very low foaming and is an effective rust inhibitor at low concentrations. Due to the products solubility you can tailor the product’s concentration to meet your protection requirements however it is generally used at 5–15% concentration.

RPAM 700 forms a near imperceptible film on machine parts for excellent corrosion protection without forming a sticky residue. It is also compatible in a wide range of water hardness. The clear dilution makes it ideal choice for leak test baths as well.

    RUST RIDNEUTRAL PH RUST REMOVER

PRODUCT DESCRIPTIONRust Rid is a uniquely formulated water-based rust remover that exhibits a near neutral pH. Rust Rid is ideally suited for removing rust on cast iron alloys, tool steels, and all carbon steels. Rust Rid is most effective against surface and blush rust. Rust Rid contains no caustic, toxic, or hazardous components.

Rust Rid offers excellent wetting and de-foaming properties allowing for uniform coverage on complex part geometries in immersion applications.

Note: For best results it is recommended that Rust Rid be used in immersion baths for optimum exposure and coverage. In addition, if Rust Rid is to be used for extended periods of time, it should be used only in process vessels composed of plastic, fiberglass, or stainless steel alloys (316 stainless steel) to avoid potential chelation and staining of process vessel surfaces.

Although heat accelerates the rust removing ability of Rust Rid, it can be extremely effective at ambient temperatures if given sufficient concentration and processing time. For purposes of testing, evaluate Rust Rid at 15% to 25% in cold solutions and 5% to 20% in solutions at 140°F or 160°F depending on the substrate metallurgy and condition as well as the type and degree of corrosion being removed. Initial screening evaluations should be conducted in the lab prior to full-scale implementation under industrial conditions.
