Crest Pumps
THE COMPANY
Crest Pumps has manufactured high quality, corrosion-resistant pumps at value for money prices for the chemical and allied industries since 1973. We are a privately owned, independent company dedicated to providing the highest level of customer service at every stage of our operation, from quotation to after-sales service. A comprehensive manufacturing and test facility gives us total control of production, resulting in particularly short lead times of fully-tested specialist pumps.
DESIGN
Technical advances are constantly explored and incorporated to improve the effectiveness of our products. “A pump is a pump” is no longer the case. Crest pumps are designed to cope with an extensive range of arduous applications, so you will find that a `special’ solution often comes with a standard price tag. And our computer aided design facility allows us to develop a product if you have a specific application.
MANUFACTURE
Virtually all Crest Pumps components are manufactured in house. Our flexible production system means that we can offer fast deliveries—without compromising quality. Quick turnaround of pumps and spare parts can be vital in order to keep production lines running and we have pioneered fast-track production and administration systems to develop a significantly speedy service. It can make all the difference.
QUALITY
Our commitment to quality is assured through a vigorous inspection programme maintained through all manufacturing processes which guarantees the reliability of our products. Each pump is performance tested to exact customer specifications prior to despatch. Crest pumps are designed to give you many years of efficient and trouble-free service.

FL VALVES Non-Return Flap Valves & Strainers
A range of non-return valves and strainers designed specifically for use with our vertical pumps but with uses throughout industry in corrosive environments. As they are flap valves the FL range operates with a minimum of pressure loss when compared to similar ball-type valves. Available in two versions: NRV - as a simple non-return suction or discharge valve or; NRVS - incorporating a suction strainer. Sizes: 1”, 1.25”, 1.5”, 2” & 2.5” BSP Materials: Polypropylene, PVC & PVDF
CVS RANGE Vertical Metallic Pumps
Manufactured in 316 stainless steel CVS pumps are available up to 4.5 m long (intermediate stages of up to 1.5 m). Fitted with PTFE steady bearings which may be product or externally lubricated.

PRIMING CHAMBERS For Suction Lifts up to 4 Metres
All Crest horizontal pumps may be fitted with suction priming chambers which will achieve suction lifts up to 4 metres. The chambers are manufactured from the same materials as the pump wet end (polypropylene, PVC, PVDF etc.) for maximum corrosion resistance. For ease of installation in-line suction and discharge ports are provided and an anti-syphon device is fitted as standard. The fitting of priming chambers make Crest pumps ideal for applications such as tanker offloading, sump emptying, effluent treatment plants etc.
SS24 SEALING SYSTEM Sealing System for Double Mechanical Seals
For applications where double mechanical seals are essential the SS24 sealing system provides a safe and simple method for pressurisation up to 8 bar. Operating on the well-proven thermosyphon principle the SS24 is easy to install and maintain and provides automatic protection for the pump and mechanical seals. The SS24 is a fully integrated system consisting of 316 stainless steel vessel, sight glass, pressure switch, pressure gauge and quick release air-line adaptor. A foot pump is available as an optional extra.
CREST PSP1 Dry Run Protection Monitor
Running centrifugal pumps dry (without liquid) often causes severe damage resulting in expensive repairs and downtime. The Crest PSP1 monitor provides permanent protection against pump dry running by electronic monitoring of the electric motor- no intrusive probes are required making the PSP1 ideal for use on pumps handling aggressive and corrosive liquids. The PSP1 is simple to install and is totally reliable and maintenance free. The monitor is normally mounted in the starter equipment cubicle.

CHEMICAL TRANSFER
Chemical transfer is the standard application for Crest pumps. As they are machined from solid blocks of plastic they are extremely rugged and robust capable of standing up to many years use in arduous conditions. The three pumps illustrated are long coupled PPB20E units handling 36% hydrochloric acid at a duty of 10 m3/hr with a 30 metre discharge head. The wet ends are made from polypropylene and they are fitted with external PTFE bellows mechanical seals. The pumps are driven by 7.5kw flameproof electric motors. The pumps were originally installed in March 1983.
POLLUTION CONTROL
Both vertical and horizontal Crest pumps are used extensively in the environmental control and effluent treatment industries. Vertical sealless pumps in particular are utilised as their ability to run dry without risk of damage make them ideal for `fit and forget’ installations. The pumps shown are PP32 models handling 10% caustic soda solution neutralised with acetic acid. The duty point. They are of polypropylene construction and are fitted with single internal mechanical seals which have stationary seats and rotating faces made from silicon carbide.
RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT
As Crest pumps are so rugged in construction they are ideal for use in environments where there is no certainty as to the chemical make-up or concentrations of the liquids being pumped. Illustrated are two VSX 20 pumps manufactured in PVC for use on a mobile pilot plant designed to monitor and control air pollution in a plating plant. As VSX pumps are sealless in construction there is no danger of damage in the event of dry running. As this is a pilot plant the only maintenance required is to regularly change standard ball races.

SELF PRIMING EMERGENCY SPILL PUMP
A major manufacturer of industrial chemicals required a pump to handle hydroflouric acid for emergency use only in the case of a road tanker accident. We provided the solution with an all PTFE pump fitted with a priming chamber (PTFE lined) and driven by a diesel engine. The whole assembly was mounted on a stainless steel carry frame which was easily transported by 2 men. In this situation the pump was going to run dry so we provided a sacrificial seal component which could be easily and inexpensively replaced.
V-BELT DRIVE & SPECIAL FLANGES
This is one of our standard PPB range pumps which was fitted with an overhead V-belt drive in order to fit into a very restricted access area. The suction and discharge flanges were altered from the standard so that the Crest pump could replace an alternative manufacturer without having to alter any pipework. As our pumps are machined from solid we are not constrained by thin walled mouldings. Since we began making pumps in 1973 we have replaced many pumps in this way so saving our customers considerable time and expense by not having to change existing pipework.
PUMP PACKAGED SYSTEMS
One of our customers had a requirement for a pressurised water system, however the water needed to be ultra-pure for cooling a laser. Our solution was to provide two of our PPM 3 stage pumps (duty / standby) fitted with hard faced silicon carbide mechanical seals, pressure switch controlled and mounted on a common skid and complete with pressure sphere, control panel, pipework and valves.
SPECIAL APPLICATIONS
In many instances a standard pump design is not necessarily suitable. In these cases we can design and manufacture a pump system to match the parameters of the application.
Listed below are just a few of the many `specials’ we have designed for unique applications. Please do not hesitate to ask if you have a problem which does not seem to fit a standard pump design.
