Bidding for Modules/Appealing1. What is the general guideline for bidding of core modules? Which core modules are open for bidding and which can only be obtained through appeal?

Generally speaking, if a core module is taught by sectional teaching, they are not available for bidding and can only be obtained by appealing through the CORS Appeal System. If a core module is taught by lectures, they are usually biddable. However, if the modules do not appear on CORS, it is likely that their quota has been reached, and students should appeal for the modules on appeals day through the CORS Appeal System.

0. What does it mean when School of Business offers this module but it is under account type G? Does this mean that as a business student, I can use my G account to bid for this business module?

For business students bidding for business modules, students are only allowed to use the P account for bidding (even for modules such as TR or if students intend to use the business modules as UE). In round 3, the quota for the G account will be rolled over to the P account and business students would be able to use their P account to bid for the module.

0. Who do I look for to switch a module code (e.g. from a GEM/SS to another code)?

Only if the module is double-coded, will students be able to switch the module code in the final semester. Please email Jian Dee for the switch.

0. What is the procedure for me to drop a core module?

No dropping of module is encouraged and any dropping of modules has to be justified. Dropping of modules are allowed only in the instance of:0. 0. If I am out-bidded for a module I wanted to take in Round 1, what are the chances that I will still have the opportunity to bid for the module again in Round 3? Is there any way to find out if the module will still have vacancies so that I am able to plan the modules I would like to take in advance?

If there are vacancies available in round 3, students are allowed to bid for them again. If not, students would have to appeal for the modules on appeals day via the CORS Appeals system.

0. If I am out-bidded for quite a lot of modules and therefore have less than 5 modules, is it possible for me to be given the modules I tried to bid for (but failed) so that I can have 5 modules to read?

Please appeal for modules on appeals day via the CORS Appeals system. From AY2015/16 onwards, full-time undergraduates are required to complete 18MCs per semester, therefore the BBA office will try to allocate sufficient number of modules to students.

0. Do I have to physically come down on Appeals Day for me to appeal for a module or can I submit it through the CORS Appeals system?

Please submit your appeals through the CORS Appeals system.

0. Is there a clear way for me to know when I should use BIZ Online Enquiries website and when I should use the CORS Appeals system for a request that I have?

For any appeals, please submit through the CORS Appeals system. The BIZ Online Enquires website handles all other enquires.

0. I have already submitted an appeal through CORS/BIZ Online Enquiry System, how long will it take for my request to be processed?

The time required to process requests depends on the workload of the BBA office and vacancies available. Enquires should clear within the round of bidding. Please note that the BBA office reserves the right to reject appeals made, which means that students should appeal once again on appeals day via the CORS Appeals system.

Generally, if students appeal for modules that are biddable, it would highly likely be allocated to you. For modules that cannot be bidded, please appeal on appeals day through the CORS Appeals website.

0. I got outbidded for a module that I wanted to take and I emailed the course coordinator and I obtained approval to take the module. Does this mean that I will be allocated the module?

No, students should not approach the course co-ordinator to obtain approval to take the module. Students are still required to appeal in via the CORS Appeals website.

0. I am in my last semester and I got outbidded on all the modules that I need to take to graduate. How can I get help with obtaining my needed modules, since this is my last semester?

Students should appeal through the CORS Appeals website. Students who are in their last semester will be given the highest priority for the modules needed for graduation.

12. What if there are other modules I can take to graduate but I need this particular module for my job in future?

As much as possible, the BBA office will allocate to students the modules of their choice. However, if that is not possible, the BBA office will allocate to students the modules required for graduation.13. It is now round 3A, Im an Arts student, minoring in Biz, I wish to take FIN3102, why cant I bid for it even though CORS says there are 4 available vacancies for NUS Students [P&G]?

As it is round 3A (open bidding), non-business students should be able to bid for business modules. However, if bidding is still unsuccessful, please check whether:0. Pre-requisites for the modules have been met0. Sufficient points to bid for modules0. Have not place any advance bids on other modules0. Not allowed to bid for more than 6 modules

14. Why are my bid points in advance bidding?

Either there is no quota available for bidding, or that the module is not available for bidding. In this case, students should redraw their advance bids and wait for the relevant round to bid. Alternatively, students can appeal for the modules on appeals day via the CORS Appeals website.

15. If I failed a core module and I need to take it again, will the module be allocated to me or do I have to bid for it?

For BAC students, please email Stephen Lynn for an appointment. For BBA students, if students failed the module in semester 1, it would not be allocated and students have to request or bid for it. If students failed the modules in semester 2, the module would be allocated to students in the subsequent semester or the semester after that.

16. I am a DDP student and I forgot to do my MPE and was not allocated any modules as a result. What should I do?

Please bid for the modules which are biddable or appeal for them on appeals day via the CORS Appeals website.

17. What should I do if I need to bid for a module for Round 3 and classes have already started? Do I attend the classes first?

Please email the respective professors to request for permission to attend their classes. The professors have the right to reject students from attending their classes.

18. I am a transfer student from other faculties. Will I be allocated the core modules or do I have to bid for them? Why am I unable to see it?

If your process to transfer to the business school is early, the system should be able to pick up the request and modules should be allocated to you. Otherwise, please proceed to the BBA office to secure your modules. Please note that the BBA office is only able to allocate modules to students that are not biddable and have vacancies. For modules that are biddable in CORS, students would have to bid for the modules.

19. I am a Year 1 student and am only allocated for 4 modules. My peers have 5 pre-allocated modules. Why is this so? Is it normal for a Year 1 student to only be pre-allocated 4 modules?

For students who matriculated in AY15/16, students can be allocated:0. 5 modules (4 of which are core modules and the last one being the quantitative reasoning module)0. 4 modules (4 core modules, and students would have to bid for 1 general education module)0. 3 modules (for special cases such as USP students who are unable to take ES2002)

20. How does the CORS Appeals System work?

Please list the modules that students would like to appeal for and note the number of modules that you wish to be allocated. For example, if students want to appeal for both MKT1003 and BSP1004, students must change the number of modules they hope to receive through appeal to 2.

Prerequisites/Waivers/Overloading/Honours/SEP1. Who do I look for to waive the pre-requisite(s) for a module?

Generally speaking, waivers of pre-requisites are not encouraged as they ensure that students are able to cope with the higher level modules. Please email bizad1@nus.edu.sg with justification for the waivers of pre-requisites.

2. Who should I look for if I want to overload my workload for this semester? Are there any requirements?

Please email bizad1@nus.edu.sg. Please note that the 6th and 7th module can only be bidded in round 3.

0. Can I take a 6th module even though I exceed the maximum of 23 MCs? How can I go about doing it?

Yes, a 6th module can be taken but can only be bidded for in round 3. If you wish to exceed 27 MCs, please email bizad1@nus.edu.sg.

0. Why am I not able to find some level 4000 modules in the module drop down list?

Please ensure that the pre-requisites for the level 4000 modules have been met. Students are only allowed to bid for level 4000 modules if they are: BBA students, they must be in their 3rd year and have a minimum CAP of >3.6 BBAH students BACH students

5. I have taken a particular module on SEP but was still allocated this module OR I cannot take another module as this pre-requisite module is still not reflected in the modules I have taken. Who should I approach and what should I do?

Please email Jessie with proof of having taken the module on SEP.

6. If I would like to drop a module because I want to map it on SEP, who do I look for and what is the procedure for me to drop the module?

Please email Jessie with the relevant documents. Please note that your SEP must be confirmed if not students would not be allowed to drop the module.7. I have cancelled my exchange next semester, but I was not pre-allocated any modules, why is this so? Does this mean that I have to bid for my own modules or will I still be pre-allocated modules in the later rounds?

Most likely the system was unable to capture the cancellation of your exchange status. Please email Jessie to have the exchange status revised. For the allocation of modules, if the module is not biddable, it would be allocated to students. If the module is biddable, students would have to bid/ appeal for them.

8. Can I drop a core module if it clashes with my elective? How about if the reason for dropping is so I can bid for a specialization module? What are the reasons that may be accepted for dropping a core module?

No, students are not allowed to drop a core module for an elective as core modules are given a higher priority. In general, core modules are given the highest priority, followed by specialization modules and lastly, electives. Dropping of modules are allowed only in the instance of:0. Timetable/Clashes/Swaps1. Is it possible to only switch a lecture slot for a module because I would like to take another module which classes with this lecture slot? If so, how do I go about doing it?

0. If I only want to swap a module in a basket, how do I go about doing it?

Students are not allowed to swap a single module. Students are only allowed to swap the entire basket of modules.

0. Is there a way to find out which students are in the other lecture slots so that I can email to swap with them? How can I mass email them?

Please go to IVLE to search for the students who are allocated other lecture slots and email them separately.

Declaration of Minor/Graduation1. If I accidentally forgot to declare my management minor, will the modules available for me to bid still show up? If not, what should I do?

No, the modules would not be available. Management minors must be declared upon matriculation into NUS.

2. I am in my final semester. Where can I check to find out if I have fulfilled the university requirements for graduation?

For single degree students, please refer to the module planner. For DDP and CDP (MPP) students, please email Carol. For CDP (MSE) students, please email Saul.

Tutorials/Electives1. Why is it that nusmods.com website shows certain tutorial slots but these slots do not appear in CORS?

Nusmods.com is not maintained by the BBA office thus it does not reflect the actual tutorial slots available. If there are insufficient numbers of students in the module, some tutorial slots will be closed by the respective lecturers. Please refer to the CORS website for the actual updated tutorial slots available.

3. Do I appeal for my GEM/SS through the CORS appeal system if I am a business student?

Yes, please appeal for the relevant modules on appeals day via the CORS Appeals system.

4. What if all the tutorial slots that are available clashes with my other modules? What can I do?

Please drop the module affected, especially if it is an elective, as students are not allowed to drop core modules. Please note that the BBA office reserves the right to close tutorial classes after appeals day if there are insufficient numbers of students.

Miscellaneous1. I need help with planning my module sequence, is there anyone in particular that I can look to for advice?

2. Is there any chance that a class with too few students will be cancelled? When will I be notified of such cancellation (as it may require me to bid for another module to substitute)? Will I be automatically allocated to another class of the same module? Will my point be refunded?

Yes. Students would know of the cancellation of classes at the end of appeals day. The BBA office will try to switch classes at prevalent bid points. However this would likely incur more points to be deducted from the students account. Only if there are no other classes available to be switched over, would the bid points be refunded.

For students matriculating in AY15/161. There are 5 pillars that are required to be completed by the 4th semester:0. GER (allocated in 1st year)0. GEH0. GET0. GES0. GEQ (if GEQ is still not available in the next 2 years, students must take 1 more of the abovementioned 4 by the 5th semester)

2. Students matriculated in AY15/16 are NOT allowed to take any GEM/GEK modules and vice versa.

3. For the S/U option, there are 20MCs available to be used in year 1 semester 1. Only 8MCs are allowed to be carried over to year 1 semester 2. Modules that are allowed to be S/U include the following: MNO1001, ACC1002, MKT1003, BSP1004, BSP1005, DSC1007, ACC2002, DSC2006For the 3 floating S/U option, only level 1000/2000 modules with no pre-requisites can be S/U-ed4. For all students, the minimum number of MCs required per semester is 18MCs, unless students are in their final semester.
