CAN BUS

CANALI INTERNI
Input analogici
- 10 input analogici (ADC 10 bit, 5V d.c.)- Connessione diretta sensori attivi e passivi su richiesta- Filtri EMI interni- Range, risoluzione ed errore dipendenti dal tipo di sensore usato(tipicamente 1%)
Input traguardo
TTL compatibileFiltro EMIRiconoscimento di fronte positivo su segnale di input.
Input RPM- Gamma di frequenza: 0- 3.0 kHz- Risoluzione: 4 µs
TTL compatibile (effetto hall o pickup magnetico) o con sensore bobina accensionePull up a Vbatt attraverso 10 kWFiltro EMI
Input velocita'- Gamma di frequenza 0 3.0 kHz- Risoluzione 4 µs
TTL compatibile (effetto hall o pickup magnetico)Pull up a Vbatt attraverso 10 kWFiltro EMI

Customers can require a particular configuration of the dashboard with a dedicated form.
STAND ALONE
In stand alone the dashboard measures directly and displays data, checks the alarm thresholds by 10 sensors connected to the inputs. The dashboard can be easily set specifying parameters for RPM calculation, speed, message display time (e.g. lap time) and alarm thresholds parameters. These operations can be carried out by the push-buttons on the front of display.
CAN BUS
In CAN BUS dashboard is set in order to receive data from any ECU able to send. These data integrate data detected by its internal channels. Connection to CAN BUS network is made possible by just two wires.

ALARMS
It is possible to set alarms or alarm conditions for internal channels by the push-buttons on the front of dashboard (see “Programming”) by push buttons. When an alarm condition is detected the name of the relevant channel is displayed in the alphanumerical window and its value in the 4-digital window. If more than one alarm condition is detected, the condition with the highest priority is displayed. The alarm message can be inhibited for 10s by pressing the push-button; if the alarm condition is still true after this time, the warning message is re-displayed.
ALARM TRIGGER
If the value of a global triggering channel, called the conditioning channel, is below a specific threshold, the alarms on the internal channels are automatically inhibited. Typically, this function is for the deactivation of the alarm when the vehicle is stationary (e.g. conditioning RPM channel, 9 default 1200 RPM threshold). The conditioning channel and the threshold (in stand alone) are set by producer.
WARNING LIGHTS
The alarm conditions are indicated by the 6 warning lights on the front of dashboard.

The track marker input is for lap time and laps number count displaying. Because of the positive edge on this input, automatically the measured time is stored and the timer reset. The lap time is displayed in the alphanumeric window for a duration that can be chosen by operator (see “Message display time” in “Programming”). By the push-buttons on the front of the dashboard the lap time can be cleared before the time set by operator.

PROGRAMMING BY PUSH BUTTONS
The push buttons are for:
- setting the normal functioning- scrolling pages (Warm up, Practice, Race)- inhibiting alarm display practice race message for 10s- resetting message display (e.g. lap time)
PROGRAMMING MODE
The programming mode enables to set:
- alarm (enable, disable, threshold)- RPM conversion constants and speed connection- MAX RPM OUT OF RANGE displaying and setting- message display time
Device is set by the push-buttons on its front. Programming mode is entered thanks to a quite long pressure of both the push-buttons (see table 1). Programming environments are described in the flow diagram here below: the left push-button indicates the field to be programmed and the right push-button indicates the value of the selected field. All the parameters maintain the selected value after switching off.

REFERENCE VOLTAGE
The dashboard connector provides 5V references on pin 3 and 8 that can be used to power active sensors. The maximum current rating absorption is 50 mA for each voltage reference (minus 10mA for each analogue input using an internal pull-up, settable thanks to the DIP switches on the back panel). Vref2 (pin 3) can be used to power sensors connected to 6 and 7 analogue inputs (respectively pin 6 and pin 7).Vref1 (pin 8) can be used to power sensors connected to 0,1,2, and 3 analogue inputs (respectively pin 1,2,4, and 5).If a short circuit occurs in one or both voltage reference a system message is displayed in the alphanumerical window.
EXTERNAL WARNING LIGHTS
On the connector (pin 25 out1, pin 2 out2, Imax 200 mA) 2 outputs driving E.G. for external warning lights (which can be connected in parallel to the red and the yellow lights) are provided. If a short circuit occurs in one or both the lights, a system message is displayed in the alphanumerical window.
BATTERY- Voltage range: 9-16 volt- resolution: 0.1 voltBattery voltage is measured from the dashboard supply, thus no additional sensor is required.

An external push-button can be connected to pin 22 on the connector. The external push-button is connected in parallel to the right push-button and must be earthed when pressed.
INTERNAL ALARM SETTING
This environment enables/disables the internal alarms and sets the alarm threshold of internal channels (see table 2). When the “ALMSET” message is displayed, a pressure of the right button enters the programming environment and displays the name of the highest priority channel: the alarm current status is indicated by a letter on the left of display (Enable/Disable) together with the type of alarm threshold (min/max). When the channel name label is displayed, the right button modifies the status of the alarm (E/D).If the alarm is disabled, a pressure of the left push-button activates the next alarm. When the alarm is activated, a pressure of the left push-button displays the current alarm threshold. From this step a pressure of the left push-button selects the next alarm while a pressure of the right push-button shows the value of the alarm threshold. Right push-buttons are to modify the value of the individual digits and left push-buttons are to go through the digits.

RPM CONVERSION CONSTANT
On entering this environment the “KRPM” message is displayed (see table 4). The constant value indicates the number of pulses per engine revolution and may take any value between 1 and 12. The value is set as displayed in the flow diagram. The constant can be applied only if RPM is taken from engine revolutions value input.

There are 2 positions indicating “Enable” (Table 2). It is immediately after selecting E from D that the left-button will enter the modality to reset the alarm value. Thanks to a pressure of the right push-button, the status is still E and a direction push-button will select the next alarm. This way it is possible to go through the alarms to enable or disable them with no need of displaying.
