The character, pennywise the clown, is always shown in bright colours. This goes against the stereotypical antagonists as they are usually represented in dark clothing. This is because the dark colours usually represent the fact that they have darkness inside where as the fact that pennywise wears bright colours makes us question his motives and his persona. He has covered his face with face paint, by doing this he has concealed his identity. This makes it in personal and leaves to mystery, this makes us fear him as we cant fully see what he looks like.

• The red of his hair and nose could lead to an association with danger or the foreshadowing of blood. There is black face paint around his eyes which could imply that he only sees evil it could also represent is evil view of the world.• The costume that we see him in is the stereotypical

juvenile clown costume. This is juxtaposed by the idea of danger as when we think of children we think of innocence and blissfully ignorant.
