Costumes for trailer

LilithFor the costume of Lilith, I have chosen an outfit which appears frequently in many horror and thriller films. Lilith will wear a white long oversized dress alongside a pair of tights. I have chosen the dress to be white as this colour has connotations of innocence, purity, and safety. Although this connotation does not relate to the character being portrayed in my thriller trailer, this will lead the audience into thinking that Lilith is unharmful and is powerless – so when appears throughout my film trailer, it will be a surprise to the audience that Lilith is not what she appears to be.The colour of the tights Lilith will wear will be black. Black withholds the connotations of power, evil as well as mystery. As this colour will be shown on the bottom half of Lilith, this shows what she is really like despite wearing white.

MariaFor the costume of Maria, she will dress very formally wearing a white turtle neck, black cigarette trousers, white loafers and a gold pendant. By using the colour white within Maria’s costume, this connotes good, innocence and safety. This will show the audience that Maria is the victim and due to the portrayal of Maria throughout my trailer will allow the audience to sympathise with her. The contrasting colour black is used to show power, elegance and formality. The use of the colour gold connotes love, courage, and wisdom. Using this colour in Maria’s costume will show the love she has towards her father, but also the ability she possess to find out about why her father was secretive about file 13:18.

Sammy & RobynSammy will wear a black bomber jacket, a white t-shirt, denim mom jeans, and black converse. Robyn’s costume will consist of a green sweatshirt, accompanied by black jeans and trainers. As the age rating for my film trailer is going to be a 15, the clothing of the character Sammy and Robyn will allow the audience to sympathise with her as she dresses very casual, and follows the trends of current teens. I have chosen for there to be more black in both Sammy and Robyn’s costume to show the negativity as well as the lack of innocence the two characters have. In this case, the use of the colour black signifies the evil in addition to foreshadowing the danger that lies ahead for the two characters.

Maria’s father

Maria’s father’s costume will consist of very formal, business-like attire. This costume includes black trousers, a button-up shirt with a tie, black shoes, and a silver watch. The main colour shown in Maria’s father’s outfit is black, within his costume, the connotation of this colour is to show formality. However, as the narrative of my trailer includes secrets kept by Maria’s father, from Maria, the use of black in her father’s costume is an addition to the enigma and lack of knowledge the audience will know about the character.
