Dear colleagues, Welcome to the latest issue of the Securitas Sentinel newsletter. We have completed the Employee Survey for this year, the replies from the staff are positive and the staff are eager to learn new skills and develop their career in Security Industry. So, we will organize more internal training for you to attend and introduce some courses by external course providers in order to help you improve your knowledge. Thank you for the support, your survey replies help us improve. With the Staff Reward Program, I am glad to know more than 20 staff redeemed their “Rewards” last quarter, this was amazing. We hope you would like the “Rewards” and we will continue to explore new “Rewards” for you. Please continue to “Earn and Redeem”. Lastly, there is a legal requirement under the Security Ordinance to conduct Teleprotection, with the launch of the new IVRS system reporting of the attendance and Teleprotection will be quicker. Please ensure you use the system and not just phone to the Care Centre. I wish you and your loved one a Merry Christmas and will communicate with you again soon. We have launched the new IVRS system on 9th December 2013. The latest IVRS system makes the teleprotection, book on/off procedure faster. Our Branch Manager, Terrence Wong said “Teleprotection is legal requirement, please ensure to meet this obligation. Also, please be reminded to use IVRS system to book on/off in order to record your attendance record accurately. Please do not call the Care Centre directly. Thank you for your kind attention. New Cooling Vest 最新最新最新最新的的的的散熱散熱散熱散熱背背背背心心心心 Securitas Hong Kong is trialing a new Cooling Vest. Recently, we received a few requests from our staff that they need some fans as their posts were hot. Our Branch Manager Mr. Kenneth Tong said “We understand the temperature at certain sites can be very high, we are testing the features and functions of the cooling vest to see whether they are suitable and applicable for the sites. If it meets our needs, we will roll it out for other sites.” The secrets of the cooling vest: • Two mini fans are installed • Three small pockets are made for dry ice in the Cooling Vest

We sent out over 1000 surveys to our staff and received 147 returns; the response rate was about 14%. Some highlights of the survey results: Training: 17% respondents would like to receive training regarding security training / security system / information security, 15% respondents are interested in first aid course and 12% are interested in language course. Suggestions to increase employee satisfaction: 14% respondents would like us to increase communication e.g. email directly link to relevant department / provide information to staff by SMS. 11% respondents would like to improve their knowledge about law and safety. Thank you for the reply and the support of the employee survey. We will continue to work on your concern and help improve your job skill in order to make you to be confident at

Environment, Health and Safety (EH&S) 環境環境環境環境、、、、健康及安全健康及安全健康及安全健康及安全Hand, Foot and Mouth Desease 手足口手足口手足口手足口病病病病 Hand, foot and mouth disease (HFMD) is a common disease in children caused by enteroviruses such as coxsackieviruses and enterovirus 71 (EV71). The disease mainly spreads by contact with nose and throat discharges, saliva, fluid from vesicles or patients' stool, or after touching contaminated objects. It may associate with severe outcome. The usual peak season for HFMD is from early summer to autumn, with a smaller peak in winter.

Clinical features

The disease is mostly self-limiting and resolves in 1 week. It usually begins with fever, poor appetite, tiredness and sore throat. One to two days later, painful ulcers will develop inside the mouth, and non-itchy skin rash with vesicles will appear mainly on the hands and feet.

Prevention

1. Always keep hands clean by frequent hand washing 2. Cover mouth and nose when sneezing and coughing 3. Avoid close contact with infected persons 4. Disinfect objects and the environment with diluted household bleach

手足口病是一種常見於兒童的疾病,通常由腸病毒如柯薩奇病毒和腸病毒 71型引起。這種疾病主要透過接觸患者的鼻或喉嚨分泌物、唾液、穿破的水泡和糞便或觸摸受染污的物件而傳播,有可能會引致嚴重後果。它的高峰期一般由初夏至秋季,有時候亦會於冬季出現。

病徵病徵病徵病徵 大部份患者都會在 1星期內自行痊癒。病發初期,通常會出現發燒、食慾不振、疲倦和喉嚨痛。一至兩天後,口腔出現疼痛的潰瘍。另外,手掌及腳掌亦會出現紅疹。

預防方法預防方法預防方法預防方法 1. 經常洗手,保持雙手清潔。 2. 打噴嚏或咳嗽時要掩著口和鼻。 3. 避免與患者有親密接觸。 4. 用稀釋家用漂白水清潔物件或環境。
