ERC WAREHOUSE

HAS MOVED!

ERCWarehouse use to be located on Route 22 Southof Hoosick Falls. They have moved to 19 Church Street

in Melrose (Rte 40) in the old Esquire Drug building.ERC was first established in 1995 as a 501(c) 3 not-for-profit organization with a goal of diverting reusableitems from the waste (thrown away) stream and tooffer them for resale at low cost. With the exception of clothing, the warehouse acceptseverything from shovels, to furniture, to televisions, towashers, dryers, refrigerators and almost any usableitems that can be resold.Matt Curley, a Pittstown youngster, is the curator of thewarehouse and he says, “We chose the location be-cause it is accessible and has plenty of storage space. We have been well received by Melrose residents, andwe thank them for that.”The ERC Community Warehouse is “Your Used GoodsSuper Store” where you can find bargains galore.Of course, to be able to sell these items, they must firstbe donated to the ERC in reasonably good condition. When you donate, you receive a letter from ERC indi-

cating the deductibility of the donation. So, instead of tossing those old appliances, or otherpersonal properties, consider donating them to ERC.

You may call Matt or his staff at 518-687-1017 duringthe hours of 9-5 Tuesday through Friday and 9-4 onSaturday. Closed Sunday.

Blinky’sRandom Thoughts

I went to what use to be my favorite restaurant,Potters Tavern @ Sterup Square in Raymertown, NY. I wasvery disappointed. I had turkey pilgim, which was good. But, the service was snail paced. It took forever to get waitedon and even more time to receive a check. I ordered theirmousse and was very disappointed. The dessert arrived in an

aluminum cup and was not very “chocolaty”. The pastrythey had the mousse sitting in was soggy, with that “I havebeen in the frig way too long” taste. Over all, it was not agood dining experience, when usually it is. Rating: Not good.

COUNTRY GALS CAFE

 W Main StreetCambridge NY 12816

518-428-2826

Jeannie and Todd Akin and

Becky English are ex-tremely proud of their new

addition to their Cafe (for-

merly the Cambridge

Diner).

Five years ago “The Coun-

try Gals Cafe moved from their location on Route 22 in

Cambridge to the building they now occupy on West

Main Street in Cambridge. The building suffered from a

cramped kitchen, a single bathroom reachable only

through the aisle of tables,

and a back room reach-

able only by going

through the kitchen or out

and around the south side

of the building.

Well, that has all changed.

Starting in late DecemberCountry Gals Cafe engaged the services of carpenter and

contractor Dan Johnson of Shushan, who began exten-

sive renovations to the building.

There are now two bathrooms, handicapped accessible, a

hallway leading from the front table area to the back din-

ing area and to the new bathrooms, and a renovated

kitchen that allows much more efficiency. Although the

seating capacities of the two dining areas (front and back)

remain the same, their is much more elbow room for ev-

eryone.

Jeannie, Todd and Becky are excited about the improve-

ments and were very impressed by Dan Johnson’s prompt

attention to the project and his excellent work.

Their menu hasn’t changed, but the atmosphere certainly

has. And they still have the greatest wheat bread in the

area!Stop in and check out their new digs. We think you will

be impressed; we were! Oh, and be sure to mention we

suggested it. Hrs: Wed-Sat 5:30am-1:30pm; Sun 6-1, break-

fast only on Sunday.
