California State Content Standard:
7.2 – Students analyze the geographic, political, economic, religious, and social structures of the civilizations of Islam in the Middle Ages.
7.2:1 – Identify the physical features and describe the climate of the Arabic peninsula, its relationship to surrounding bodies of land and
water, and nomadic and sedentary ways of life.
Objective:Students will identify the physical features and describe the climate of the Arabian Peninsula and its relationship to surrounding lands.
Students will critically analyze the geographic terrain to determine how to adapt and survive in the terrain with regards to shelter, food/water, safety, & economics.
Students will practice active listening and synthesis of classmates ideas.
Materials: Geography visuals of Arabian Peninsula (Alavosus, 2005). Powerpoint slides with questions. Readings from secondary and primary sources about the Arabian Peninsula’s environment.
