Who we are The audiovisual language institute was founded in 1965 and is one of the

leading language schools in the area. We are a language school for adults,

which is specialized in teaching the German language to foreign language

speakers.

We teach German to people used to an academic environment as well as

those not used to it on all levels and enable the participants to acquire

written and spoken language skills that are needed for professional and

everyday life. Furthermore, we offer English, French, Spanish and Italian

courses. The AVS is an independent institute that is run under the private

sector and is open to people of all backgrounds, independent of religious

and political beliefs. We are in close collaboration with the canton, the

community and social institutions in order to achieve an efficient and

successful integration of people speaking a foreign language.

Offers The range of services we offer includes class- and private lessons as well

as language training and further education for companies and institutions.

It can be held both internally at our school and externally at compa-nies.

There are courses aimed at learning languages as well as courses,

that strengthen, broaden or improve language skills. The offer addresses to

adults at all levels from beginners to advanced stages with a general

learning program or a more specialized area of focus, as well as for the

preparation for internationally recognized, official diplomas.

Our learning content and goals Our teachers are highly qualified and teach in their own mother tongue. We

teach our participants oral and written language skills that can be applied

to everyday life as well as for professional life. We consider cultural aspects

so that the students can be integrated successfully. All our courses assume

an active participation and regular attendance.

Objectives The AVS language institute offers a qualified, individual consultation, a

positive learning environment as well as an optimal framework for learn-

ing a language and establishing language skills for everyday life and

working life. This is achieved by using a well balanced, goal oriented and

practice oriented teaching program. The classes should play a vital role in

the integration process. Concept The courses offered and the teaching programs are well adapted to the

needs and interests of our target audience. The learning content is taught

by course leaders with a high level of professional, personal and social

competence in groups that are graded according to their ability.

Quality We view the quality assurance, team development and the continuous

adaptation to market demands as well as the educational, methodological

and social developments as part of our responsibility.

Telc Examination Center AVS Baden AG is a licensed examination center for examinations in the

European Language Certificate telc (telc language tests) series. All telc-

Examinations for German as a foreign language from levels A1 to B2 are

conducted internally through our school several times per year. Exact dates

are available on request.

Notifications Group sizes: We teach in small groups of

5 to maximum 12 people.

The semi intensive and evening courses

are made up of 4 to maximum 8 people per class.

Classification People with prior language knowledge

are classified according to a placement

test, which determines the suitable course level.

Please call us to arrange an appointment.

The test is free of charge and non-binding.

Registration deadline Joining of existing courses is possible immediately,

when joining planned courses the deadline is 14

days before the course starts.

Private courses/ Small group instruction

We offer private courses in every language that we teach! Whether you

need systematic language training or you want to determine the content

and intensity oft he language course according to your own needs –

we can organize private lessons or lessons that take place in small groups

for you.

Course fees per person:

45 Minutes 90 Minutes

1 person: CHF 75.00 CHF 150.00

Group of two: CHF 45.00 CHF 90.00

Group of three: CHF 30.00 CHF 60.00

Course materials are not included in the course fees.

The private lessons are arranged as a block of 10 lessons at once, which

have to be taken within three months.

REGULATIONS Registration / Commitment / Payment

The prices of the courses are fixed. Registration becomes valid after the

registration form has been filled in, duly signed, and returned to us, thus

entailing the obligation to pay the full fee for the duration of the

commitment.

If payment is made in instalments, the first instalment is to be paid before

the beginning of the course, and the following instalments as stated on the

bill. Course materials are to be paid with the first instalment.

In case of interruption of studies, we regret that claims for refund and/or

exemption from payment cannot be entertained. If a participant is

prevented from completing a course by circumstances of an extremely

serious nature, he may request a voucher for the remaining amount (less

CHF 100.– administrative costs), which he may use towards the cost of a

course at a later date.
