The comprehensive Prepare for CASAS program provides instruction, practice and reporting.

■  ICL

The ICL (In-Class Lessons) is a set of projectable, interactive teacher-led lessons that complement the independent practice in the Student’s Zone. The ICL targets specific competencies your students need in order to master the CASAS Life and Work Reading Tests (81R-82R, 83R-84R, 185R-186R). The lessons include useful reading skills and vocabulary, as well as test-taking tips and strategies to help students work efficiently in a test situation. Lessons were designed for maximum flexibility and can be used to support and enhance your curriculum, or for remediation. Teachers control when to unlock the corresponding student lessons and release them to Lesson Practice in the Student’s Zone.

■  Practice

The Student’s Zone provides student-directed online learning. The Student’s Zone includes Lesson Practice and Test Practice. Lesson Practice is comprised of lessons that the teacher releases from the ICL. The material taught in the ICL is reinforced in Lesson Practice. Students are able to apply what they learned in the lesson to a new text of the same type.

Test Practice contains interactive practice tests for the students to do independently when preparing for CASAS Life and Work Reading Tests (81R-82R, 83R-84R, 185R-186R) and Listening Tests (81L-82L, 83L-84L, 85L-86L). All practice items are aligned with Task Areas, Competencies and Content Areas included in the reading and listening tests. Students practice and improve their English, and focus on the types of reading and listening texts that they will encounter in both daily life and at work.

■  Reports

The Teacher’s Zone gives teachers the tools necessary to track student progress. Teachers can access competency reports in the Student Progress section of the Teacher’s Zone to track competencies that the students have not yet mastered. Teachers can choose to view class or individual test results and competency reports.

Teachers can also choose to administer reserved tests for pre-, mid- and post-term assessments when appropriate. These tests can be scheduled in the Control CASAS section of the Student Management tab in the Teacher’s Zone.
