● Starting the 2020-21 school year, Andover School District will follow the weighted GPA scale. The weighted GPA will be the only GPA noted on the high school transcript.

Kansas Board of Regents Qualified Admissions criteria apply. Below is a summary
of the amendments.

Kansas State Scholars Curriculum
English- 4 credits
Math- 4 credits (Algebra 1, Algebra 11, Geometry, and 1
unit of advanced math. Completion of Algebra I in 8th
grade is acceptable)
Science- 3 credits (Biology, Chemistry AND Physics)
Social Studies- 3 credits
Foreign Language- 2 years of 1 language
Health and PE-None; Computer Studies-None; Speech-

ADVANCED PLACEMENT
● AP-Advanced Placement- A nationally recognized rigorous curriculum. College credit is based on the score of the AP test and college credit policy.
● Research the scores you need on a test for college credit using the transfer equivalency tool.
● Again in the fall you will be selecting and paying for the class just like this year.
CONCURRENT CLASSES

DUAL CLASSES● Dual- Courses are taught by a college teacher
on the college’s campus or online. ● If a class is offered here at ACHS, you are not
allowed to take it at Butler during the school year or summer.
● If you choose College Release as one of your courses for next year, that means you plan to take a class on Butler’s campus. ○ Class times are typically one day per week
from 4-7pm or 7-10pm or may be offered online.

PROGRAM OPTIONS (BCC, WSU Tech, CAPS)● Students must meet with their counselor to review
graduation and program requirements.
● BCC/WSU Tech: Students attend ACHS for 3 hours and BCC/WSU Tech campus for 4 hours.
● Andover CAPS: Students attend ACHS 4 hours and CAPS 3 hours
● Representatives from BCC, WSU Tech, and CAPS will be here 2/12 from 5:30pm-7:00pm.

Teacher Aide/Tutor
This course is for students to either assist teachers in preparing, organizing or delivering course curriculum or to assist other staff member in fulfilling their duties. Students may provide tutorial or instructional assistance to other students.
Can be .5 or 1.0 credit.
Community ServiceThis is an off-campus volunteer program. Students interested in this program will need to make arrangements to work as a volunteer on a daily basis in the community. This would include work at the Andover Healthcare Center, Senior Center, Andover Fire and Rescue, Chamber of Commerce, City Hall, GoodWill or any other community entity that a student wishes to serve it. Approved students must be on track to graduate with their cohort. All community service placements will be approved by application completion and availability.
Credit- .5 or 1.0 and Administrator Approval Required!
Work Place Experience
This course provides students with work experience to help prepare for their career of choice. Students may work specifically in their chosen field, in an entry-level position that leads to the chosen career, or in a closely related field. Paid or non-paid. Students are required to submit work hours’ log or pay stubs and reflection journals to receive school credit. Students may not also be enrolled concurrently in another consortium hour. Students must be on track to graduate. This can be taken as a one-hour or two back to back hours. All career exploration placements will be the responsibility of the student.

ALTERNATE CHOICES
• DO NOT double enroll in classes- if you pick it as your first choice, you can’t have it as an alternate.
• Alternates are there in case your schedule isn’t working- pick them wisely as well.
SCHEDULE CHANGES
●Once you COMMIT, and you are CAPABLE, you CONTINUE in a class.●Students are required to fill out a form for all schedule changes. Teacher, parent, and principal signatures will be required.●Students will not be able to request a change until the first day of school. ●One opportunity to change per semester.

● Feb. 12- Students will receive enrollment information and will work on their enrollment and IPS.
