Jivan Hovhannisian | Pencil Drawing and Oil Painting (+13): This course consists of two main components, the pencil drawing, and the oil painting technique.

Pencil drawing provides a more direct and intimate link to an artist's creative process than does painting. The ability to draw is the basis of all art; no one can paint or create without a good knowledge of pencil drawing. Jivan will show you how to draw in pencil, from a simple line to portraits and figure studies. This course is suitable for all abilities, both beginners and the more experienced artists and designers who wish to improve their drawing skills.

Once you understand how to draw, you are ready to move on to painting. An accomplished oil painter, Jivan who will guide you step by step, showing you a variety of techniques (composition, textures, colour-mixing) to develop your painting ability and enable you to express your ideas to create beautiful paintings.

It would be beneficial if students could bring in examples of source material (pictures, photographs etc.) that they are interested in painting. This course is suitable for all levels of ability, beginners welcome!

Students are required to purchase their own materials.

Jivan Hovhannisian – Jivan is an accomplished artist and graphic designer from Armenia, who has been living in Dubai for the last 10 years. Jivan has participated in collective exhibitions in Armenia, Russia, Geneva, Lebanon, Canada, USA and UAE. He has been teaching with DUCTAC since 2009, and is constantly creating his own art, mainly using the oil painting technique. He is passionate to teach art to people of all backgrounds and experiences, help them learn the skill and find their own voice and expression.
