Studies in Education (Block A)
IDC4U – Ideal for students who want to
teach. Students will have the opportunity to
teach all levels of curriculum in a variety of
subject areas and learn about teaching
strategies and assessment in Canada and
around the world.
Special Courses/Packages:
Leadership (2 Credits – BLOCK 2B)IDC4U & IDC3O – this program has the potential to be 2 credits
towards your diploma! Students must take the grade 11 credit as a
prerequisite for the grade 12 credit. This course prepares and
motivates students to provide leadership within the school.
Students will develop coaching, teamwork, and conflict
management skills while they manage a team, convene special
events and school-wide projects and peer support roles. They will
design and implement a plan for contributing to their school
and/or community; develop skills in communication, interpersonal
relations, teamwork, and conflict management; and apply those
skills in leadership and/or peer support roles within the classroom
and school community. Students will examine group dynamics and
learn the value of diversity within groups and communities.
Enviroventure (4 Credits – Block 4A)Students work in an outdoor environment
for a full semester so a love of the outdoors
is a must for this all day, all semester
course. Students are expected to accept the
challenge of both working independently
and in close co-operation with their
classmates. It is a very physically active
