Section 2: Objectives
1. Objectives of the Course
This course is designed to develop students’ knowledge of the form, meaning, and use of English grammar structures in social and academic situations. Students should demonstrate their ability to write various kinds of sentences using correct syntactic structures as well as communicating their thoughts orally using appropriate vocabulary and grammar. Therefore, at the end of this course, students will be able to:
(1) recognize and explain functions of the parts of speech in English; (2) analyze elements of sentence construction of simple, compound, and complex
sentences; (3) write grammatically correct and meaningful sentences: simple, compound, and
complex; (4) express their thoughts orally using appropriate vocabulary and grammar.
2. Reasons for Course Development/Modification
To develop the course so as to comply with the Thailand Qualification Framework for higher education

1. Course Description
English syntactic structure, semantics, and numerous problematic points of English usage with an emphasis on accuracy of vocabulary and grammar, appropriate use of demotic language and slang focusing on register, style, and tone.

The instructor provides academic advice and guidance to students (individual/group) 3 hours/week.

1. Morals and Ethics
1.1 Morals and Ethics to be developed
(1) Maintaining punctuality and self-responsibility. (2) Maintaining honesty.
1.2 Teaching Methods
(1) Creating organizational cultures in the school to embed discipline, responsibility, punctuality, honesty, and participation into basic consciousness of faculty members, staff and students.
(2) Teaching ethics and morals in all courses in order to establish awareness of and to implant good attitudes into all students.
(3) Arranging activities/projects, which reinforce students’ moral, ethical and social responsibility.
(4) Providing courses relating to corporate governance and professional ethics as core courses.
1.3 Evaluation Methods
(1) Developing an evaluation form and requiring related persons to evaluate students. These related persons include faculty members, classmates, and companies participating in the Co-operative Education Program.
(2) Observing students’ behavior such as punctuality and class attendance, participation in activities, and responsibility.
(3) Examination of courses relating to corporate governance and professional ethics.
2. Knowledge
2.1 Knowledge to be acquired
(1) Possessing a thorough and systematic body of knowledge in terms of appropriate English grammar and usage to be beneficial in the field of Business English in both theory and practice.
(2) Possessing and understanding English grammar and usage, integrating Business English knowledge and other knowledge as well as applying them appropriately.
(3) Continuously updating changes in academic, research, and profession, both in theory and in practice, for self-development.

(4) Possessing an understanding and capability of using English grammar and usage as the core construct of Business English in their future careers.
2.2 Teaching Methods
(1) Using student-centered learning in specific courses, where students can acquire knowledge and understanding of concepts, theory, and practices, integrate knowledge from different areas, and apply them appropriately.
(2) Encouraging the learning of operating techniques related to business English from real experiences through knowledge transfer from experts, co-operative study, and extracurricular activities.
2.3 Evaluation Methods
(1) Written examinations in all courses (2) Using reports and presentations in co-operative study and other courses.
3. Cognitive Skills
3.1 Cognitive Skills to be developed
(1) Being able to search for and possess information, documents and concepts in order to individually identify and analyze complex problems.
(2) Applying and integrating English grammar and usage with Business English knowledge and other related knowledge; employing professional skills and discretion in decision making, as well as creatively proposing alternatives in various situations consistent with the impact of those decisions.
(3) Being able to apply English grammar and usage together with the knowledge of Business English to their future careers.
