Ch1: HRM in a changing environment

This chapter first defines HRM and then describes and discusses the

different implications for HRM departments and their practices as a

result of facing and dealing with various environmental forces and

business trends such: cultural environments, workforce diversity,

continuous improvement programs, employee involvement and other

HRM challenges.

Ch2: Introduction to HR functions

This chapter introduces and discusses the different HRM functions and

their goals and underlying practices, in addition to describing the

structure of the HR department, HR trends and opportunities and HR

in the context of small and global organizations and the relationship

between HR and corporate ethics.

Ch5: Effective job Analysis The chapter introduces and describes the relationship between HRM

and organizational strategy, and describes and discusses the process,

methods, purpose, outcomes and multifaceted nature of job analysis.

The chapter also discusses job design and some of its techniques.

Ch6: Employee recruitment This chapter defines recruitment and identifies its goals and then

discusses the factors that affect recruitment efforts, in addition to

introducing and discussing the different sources of recruitment. Other

topic covered in this chapter includes effective recruitment and

recruitment alternatives

Ch7: Selecting Employees This chapter defines selection and introduces and discusses the

different steps and approaches of the selection process in addition to

presenting some concepts related to assessing the predictive power of

selection tools.

Ch8: Training and developing employees

This chapter introduces the concepts of socialization and orientation

and their stages, and the concepts of training and development and

their different methods. The chapter also discusses how to evaluate

training and development effectiveness.

Ch10: Performance management

Explores the purpose, difficulties, process and methods of

performance appraisal. In addition to presenting the different

distortions of appraisals and how to create more effective

performance appraisal systems.

Ch11: Compensation Introduces the different classifications of rewards and explores the

concepts of compensation administration and the wage structure. In

addition the chapter discusses the different methods used in job

evaluation and some special cases of compensation.

Attendance policies:
