APPRENTICES

Apprenticeships are offered by employers who are looking to employ someone within their company. You will earn while you learn and gain a nationally recognised qualification.

Like any other employment you have to apply for the job along with other applicants, this is usually throughthe National Apprenticeship Service website. You would then be shortlisted, interviewed and, if selected, employed as an Apprentice.

You can also find your own employer to give you an apprenticeship. This could be with a local business, even a family or friend’s business. If you find one where you would be interested in working, talk to them then talk to us.

HAIR & BEAUTY THERAPYThe hair and beauty sector is thriving in Coventry and the Midlands. Thousands of hairdressers and therapistswork in salons and other outlets, with hundreds more self-employed, freelancers, working overseas and evenon cruise ships. MOTOR VEHICLE & HGV STUDIESIf you love vehicles and enjoy fixing things, this could be a great career for you. Motor vehicle techniciansrepair and service cars, vans, motorbikes, lorries and coaches.

Our learners work on all vehicle mechanics and electrics, from engines and exhaust systems to air-conditioningand accident repair. Study Motor Vehicle with us at Coventry College and you’ll be working with an established and highly regarded team. Our reputation is built on excellent connections in the industry, both locally and nationally.

We have an extensive range of practice chassis, engines and other components. We also have a range of vehicles from hatchbacks and classic cars to modern commercial vehicles and double decker buses. Last year our bodywork learners took a standard Rover and kitted it out as a Team MG rally car. This yearwe’re upgrading the engine and suspension as well as working on new project vehicles. SOCIAL STUDIESIf you don’t have formal qualifications and wish to study locally for a university degree in Social Studies, this pathway is for you. The first two years are taught at the City campus enabling you to gain the skills and confidence to prepare you for the final two years at University of Warwick.

You are a learner at the University of Warwick from the start of the degree, and whilst most teaching takesplace at college, you will attend classes and other activities at the University during the first two years. You start with the BA (Hons) Social Studies and are then able to transfer to the more specialised BA (Hons)Health & Social Policy in your third year if you wish.
