Many offshore construction operations require the use of a stable platform to

perform activities like foundation and wind farm installation. Self-elevating

platforms, both non-propelled and self-propelled jack-up barges, provide

such a flexible and safe working environment. The jack-up barge industry is

set to grow significantly as investments in offshore (renewable) energy

generation increases. Efficiency and safety depends greatly on the knowledge,

skills and competences of the persons in charge of managing the operation

of the jack-up barge, such as positioning and the jacking process of the

platform.

STC B.V. provides a training program which is based on guidelines from both the industry and the International Maritime Organisation (IMO). The course ‘Marine Operations of Jack-up Barges’ is based upon IMO resolution A.891(21) regarding the recommendations on training of personnel on mobile offshore units. Furthermore the industry is close-ly involved through the International Jack-up Barge Owners Association (IJUBOA). Industry guidelines have been developed by the IJUBOA and are laid down in the National Occupational Standards (NOS) which form the core of the course.

This course fulfils the need to develop skills and knowledge within jack-up barge utilising companies. The offshore industry requires more and more proof of the use of competent personnel on board when tendering for a project. This course offers your company a competitive advan-tage as it can be used as proof for such training demands.
