2. Program Description

Characteristics of Target Learners:

This activity could be used by anyone once it is posted online. It should conform to standard web browsing skills by having an easy to understand and traditional navigation interface. Users will have average skills for operating a web browser. The reading level is 4+ and content is designed for upper elementary and middle school students.

Instructional Objectives:

1. The user will read information about smoking and cigarettes

2. Users will read and listen to comments by peers about the reasons not to smoke.

3. Users will develop an opinion about smoking, and will be asked to take a pledge against smoking.

Hey kids, want to know plenty of reasons why you should be against smoking? Check out the facts about cigarettes and smoking. Also, find out about good reasons to avoid smoking, and hear some kids’ comments about smoking.

Work Space

In the left section, there will be buttons to press that have statements from kids.

hen you click the buttons, the info or captions will appear in the stage area.

Buttons on the left side will pop up questions to cause inquiry. On some pages, the buttons will trigger an audio file to play, or start a seriesOf question/ answer activities.

The main menu will appear on all pages. On this page, two buttons will present motivating questions that will motivate viewers to continue on exploring the site.

Additional Notes:The graphics on page 1 remain current throughout the project, on each frame.
