Wetā monitoring

Last Friday the Enviroleaders checked the wetā hotels on the Kaniwhaniwha track and found 4 out of 48 hotels occupied by wetā. The best way to check the hotels is to shine a torch into the side and see if a wetā is home. You can open the sliding wooden back but have to be very careful when closing it again

so that you don't squash any parts of the wetā. A large female wetā jumped out to see us when we opened one hotel.

From the Enviroleaders-

Please remember to bring in your waste for recycling in the next couple of weeks so that we can package it up and send it off before the end of the year. The collection bins are located outside the library for:

1. Toothbrushes and packaging, toothpaste tubes, floss containers, mouthwash bottles.

2. Pens, felt pens, ink cartridges, mechanical pencils, correction fluid and tape containers, highlighters and marker pens.

School Staffroom

Please support our school bus sponsors who help keep the bus running costs down for all the school to benefit.

Tēnā koutou hapori,

A huge thank you to all for the continued support you have shown Te Pahu School throughout the year.

It is with great excitement I am announcing that the new playground is not far away. Graeme Bowe has very generously agreed to dismantle and remove our existing playground and prepare the site for the installation of the new ‘Playground Creations’ playground. Work on installing this playground will begin on February 9th 2021. During the summer holidays there will be a few days that the playground and pool will be closed to the public. These will be when there will be trucks and diggers onsite to remove the playground. With the support and fundraising efforts of the PTA and community along with funding from the Ministry of Education we are able to realise the dream of a new, modern playground being installed. I would like to take this opportunity to thank both past and present PTA’s for their efforts in fundraising events for the new playground. A huge thank you to those in the community, past and present families for your kind donations to this project. Early in 2021 we will be announcing the opening date for our playground so watch this space!

Next week we will be holding our annual community singing. The junior school have been practicing for this event and are looking forward to entertaining you on Thursday 10th December at 10am in the school den. Please come along and be prepared to be entertained by our talented junior school.

Pool keys will be available for sale from the school office next week. The week beginning 7th December. These are available for $80.00. If you wish to use the school pool throughout the summer please contact the school office to acquire a key. I would like to take this opportunity to thank George Cowie for all the time and effort he has volunteered to keep our school pool looking pristine in readiness for you to enjoy over the summer. Thank you George! The first use of the pool will be the junior tryathlon next week on Wednesday 9th December.
