This magazine ‘Rolling Stone’ is targeted at more of the Indie/Rock audience this can be backed up by the artist featured within the front cover of the magazine. The target audience seems to be aimed at people aged 16+ as the style of the front cover is neat, dark and the house style has been thought about in a way which would appeal to the target audience.

The majority of the time, the logo for this magazine is never fully seen. There is always the main image covering the middle of the masthead yet people will still know exactly what magazine it is all by the style of the front cover and the specific font used as well as the bold red colour which helps it stand out on the black background. The selling line is at the top of the page and this tells people who else will feature in the magazine. This is a good selling point as the people who like the kind of artists wrote along the top, are more likely to pick up this specific magazine.

The image of the front cover ‘main image’ is someone who majority of girls can be seen as a role model. She’s a young sexy woman who appeals to men as well meaning this the magazine is aimed at both males and females. Opening her jacket a little to show flesh is something which men might appeal to so seeing this image means they might buy the magazine.

The cover lines which are used within this front cover is to make people buy the actual magazine. Focusing on the female artist Pink, helps the magazine a lot as she is a sexy woman which some males enjoy looking at and she is a role model to many females in the world. Making her the main object of the whole cover on ‘the Dark Side of Pink’ will intrigue people to pick up the magazine as it maybe something they really want to know about her. Also having many different types of comedians underneath this cover line will help sell the magazine as the comedians seem more targeted for the males as more males genuinely tend to go and read about comedians.

This style of the magazine is mainly aimed at females as pink seems to be the main vibrant colour on this front cover. All the main important stuff are in a hot pink which most girls like. As the artists featured on the front of the cover is young and inspirational to girls, the target audience is mainly girls in there teens and older. The type of music that this magazine seems to specify in is more mainstream music which seems to be a bit of everything everyone enjoys as this can be seen within the third of the magazine cover in a cover line naming many different artist.

The logo itself is expected to be how it is, big and bold and it stands out to the human eye. Using the bright pink colour will attract people to pick up the magazine as that is one of the aims for the magazine to make people want to buy the magazine and pick that specific one over every other magazine. The selling line on the front cover of this magazine is something which can catch the readers eye as its something what doesn’t seem to come around all of the time. Its special edition which means these covers aren’t something that will always be around. Its like they are straying away from their original front covers.

The main image of the front cover is of a young and what can be considered attractive woman who influences a lot of females as she also can be seen as a role model. She will also attract males to pick up the magazine as majority of males thing she is a sexy woman. This will help the magazine a lot as there are people out there who love reading about Rihanna and what she has to say. She is a young successful artist who is well known all over the world and with having her on the front cover of the magazine will encourage people to pick it up. Also with what she is wearing black and blue, it makes her stand out more from the actual front cover of pinks and whites.

The cover lines on the front of this magazine are simple to read. There are bright bold headings which will draw in peoples attention. Using many different artists names within the cover lines, is another way to sell the actual magazine as people love reading about the artists they enjoy listening to. As Rihanna is the main focus on the magazine, the main selling like is about her with a little quote which she may have stated herself will again gain readers interest.

Rolling Stones is a magazine which seems to have a more older and mature audience as it seems by the house style of the front cover. Compared to NME which seems to have a more of a younger audience approach such as teens. Looking at the style of each of the magazines a more older generation is likely to read the magazine Rolling Stones than NME. The magazines themselves are both successful magazines which seem to have thought about the layout of each individual front cover carefully and thought about the cover lines which will be within the magazine. They both offer a lot to the reader, both interesting yet very different stories and articles which can interest a wide variety of people. Both magazines are bold and very eye attracting. In my own personal opinion I would rather buy the Rolling Stones magazine as it seems like there would be more it.
