Face Covering
◆ “Face Covering ” means a mask or face covering (including a bandana or scarf) constructed of cloth, linen or other similar fabric that fits securely to the head and is large enough to completely and comfortably cover the mouth, nose and chin without gaping.
By-law Requirements
◆ Every Person s ha ll wear a Face Covering before entering and while ins ide a Public Es tablis hm ent , Mis s is s auga Trans it Vehicle, Taxi or Priva te Vehicle for Hire.
◆ No Operator s ha ll perm it a Pers on to enter or to rem ain in a Public Es tablis hm ent without a Face Covering.
Operators
“Operator ” means a Person or organization who owns and/or has control over and/or directs, the operation of a Public Establishment, Mississauga Transit Vehicle, Taxi or Private Vehicle for Hire.
Operator Requirements:• Not permit a Person to enter or to remain in a Public
Establishment or vehicle without a Face Covering.• Develop a face covering policy to ensure by -law compliance. • Provide a copy of the policy for inspection by an Officer upon
request. • Post signage at all entrances that Persons are required to wear a
Face Covering in accordance with this By -law.
Indoor Public Establishments
• Retail stores and malls
• Restaurants
• Indoor sports & rec facilities
• Places of worship, except during religious rite or ceremony incompatible with face covering
• Personal care services (hair and nail salons)
• Common areas of hotels & motels, but not residential apartments/condos
• Libraries, museums & galleries
• Event spaces
• concert venues, theatres, cinemas, casinos and other entertainment establishments
• Open houses/ real estate presentation centres
• Municipal buildings
EXEMPTIONS: Locations
• Day cares
• Schools & school buses
• Colleges/universities
• Federal /Provincial buildings
• Go Transit Vehicles
• Day camps
• Community centres and arenas used for registered programs
• Hospitals and offices of regulated health professionals
EXEMPTIONS: People/Activities• Children 2 years or
younger
• People who can’t wear mask for medical reasons or reason of disability
• Eating /drinking when dining rooms re-open
• Staff while in offices/back roomsor behind physical barriers
• Facial services (beard trimming) when permitted
• Persons engaged in an athletic, fitness or aquatic activity
• While speaking in court / before tribunals
• police, fire or paramedics while responding to call
Persons shall not be required to provide proof in order to meet any of the exemptions set out in the By-law.

Policy Development Guideline
A Person who is not or refuses to wear a Face Covering shall identify if they are a Person who is exempt from wearing a Face Covering when asked by an Operator or Officer but Persons shall not be required to identify which exemption prevents them from wearing a Face Covering or provide proof in order to meet any of the exemptions set out in the By-law.
