Can vaccinated tourists with only one dose of the vaccine whohave recovered from COVID-19 enter Costa Rica?

Every country has its own mechanisms to track the evidence that allows the verification of

foreigners’ vaccination status. In Costa Rica, the evidence that foreign nationals must provide

is contained in the Health Pass.

This includes travelers who received a single dose of COVID-19 vaccine from their health

authorities, which will be reflected in their vaccine document as “Dose 1/1” (dose one of one).

The vaccines endorsed by the World Health Organization and those authorize by strict

regulatory agencies are accepted, along with those permitted by the Costa Rican health

authorities.

What will happen in the event of quarantine after April 1?

In the event that a tourist catches COVID-19 during their stay in Costa Rica, they must quarantine or self-

isolate for 7 days. The quarantine cannot be ended early even in the event of a negative test during this

period.

Tourists are responsible for the costs of lodging during quarantine, which may be covered out of pocket

or through insurance.

All tourists entering the country are recommended to obtain a sufficiently broad insurance policy that

covers the medical expenses and costs of a prolonged stay due to a potential COVID-19 infection.
