Coventry Industrial Design Degree Show 2015 | Welcome

Editors: Lee Gold & Ben Kübler

Every year at Coventry University the Industrial Design Degree Show is organised by a student committee made up of volunteers from each department. The Degree Show Committee is responsible for all aspects of the degree show from branding to the production of books and of course, organising the funding for this. In addition to our sponsors, the degree show is primarily funded through student led activities and events.

Each and every student in this book has made a set contribution in order to be part of the Coventry University Industrial Design Degree Show 2015 book.

Mike Goatman | Head of Industrial Design

I’m very pleased to introduce to you this compilation of the work of the graduating Industrial Design students from Coventry School of Art and Design, which has been put together by a group of our enterprising final year students.

The work is from our three undergraduate courses, Product Design, Interior Design, and the world famous Automotive and Transport Design course.

It’s only a snapshot, but I’m sure you’ll agree with me that the creativity, innovation, enthusiasm and skills that are exhibited in these projects are immensely encouraging for the future of our design profession. We look forward to watching this group with whom we’ve had the pleasure of working for the last three and four years develop their successful future careers that will be a credit to us and a boon to their employers and clients.

Project | IDesign3Dit is a project that suggests a unique approach to interior design. Its human-centred concept aims to improve work productivity and reduce the environmental impact of the occupied space. The project puts two forward-thinking models into consideration – sustainability and the human factor, and explores the idea that if used simultaneously in a design, they can positively affect productivity, our well-being and the economy. As a result, the IDesign3Dit project can potentially increase productivity by 57%.
