v In accordance with the instructions of Government of

India, CPRI has introduced AADHAR Enabled Biometric

Attendance System (AEBAS) at Bangalore campus and

its units Bhopal, Noida, Hyderabad, Nagpur, Kolkata

with effect from 5th May 2016 to mark their

attendance on the AEBAS system.

Swatch Bharath Pakhwada :

v Swatchh Bharat Pakhwada was observed between

16th May to 31st May 2016 at CPRI, Bangalore. Action

was taken to ensure that the laboratories / Divisions /

Sections be spruced up and the surroundings & vicinity

of the laboratories totally cleaned up. As a part of the

Pakhwada, a lecture by Mrs. Nupur Tandon, Consultant

was arranged in CCAR Auditorium, Bangalore, on 31st

May 2016.

v Swachhta Bharat Pakwada programme was conducted

at CPRI campus and CPRI colony at UHVRL-Hyderabad

and Gandhinagar village adopted under Chenghicherlia

Grama Panchayat, from 16th to 31st May 2016.

v Swachha Bharat Pakhwada had been celebrated at

RTL-CPRI, Noida from 16th to 31st May 2016. During

this Pakhwada, cleaning of RTL Campus and

surrounding was done by RTL Officers and Staff and a

Guest Lecture had been arranged on Swachha Bharat

Abhiyan by speaker Shri. S. K. Sharma, CEO of Nortex

Engineering Co., Delhi.

Meeting with Dubai Electricity and Water Authority :

v A meeting was held with Dubai Electricity and Water

Authority (DEWA) to enlist CPRI in DEWA’s approved list

of laboratories, at New Delhi, on 8th April 2016. His

Meeting with IEEMA Switchgear Division :

v CPRI held a meeting with IEEMA Switchgear Division

at CPRI, Bangalore, on 14th April 2016. The agenda for

the meeting is to understand the Gaps in Test Facilities,

particularly for Switchgear Systems. The meeting was

chaired by Shri. B. V. Raghavaiah, Director, CPRI who

briefed the IEEMA members about the current test

facilities. The Director also explained about the XI & XII

plan projects which will address the Testing Gaps in

future.

Meeting with Dubai Electricity and WaterAuthority Officers

v High Voltage Division, CPRI Bangalore has performed

lightning impulse residual voltage test, switching

impulse residual voltage test and reference voltage test

on a 245kV SF6 GIS lightning arrester for the first time in

India for M/s BHEL, Hyderabad. The test engineers who

performed the work were Smt. M. Kanyakumari, Shri

Jithin Pauly P., Shri. Y. Dharmesh and Dr. N. Vasudev.

v Impulse Current Generator lab, High Voltage Division

CPRI Bangalore, performed impulse voltage

measurement (at 40kA, 8/20 µs) on Down conductor

cable for the first time. Mr. Syarif Hidayat, Mr. Chandra

Soemitro and Mrs. Vivien M. Liando from M/s. P T Zeus

Prima Garda, Indonesia witnessed the test performed

by test engineers Smt. M. Kanyakuymari, Shri. Jithin

Pauly P. and Dr. N. Vasudev.

v CPRI in association with Power Grid and IEEMA

organised SURGEPROTECH, 2nd international

conference cum tutorials on surge arrester at Hotel

Le meridian, New Delhi on 28th & 29th April 2016.

Dr. N. Vasudev, AD/HOD, High voltage division

delivered a lecture on application of silicon rubber and

testing for polymer surge arresters. Dr. N. Vasudev,

Smt. M. Kanyakumari, Shri. Jithin Pauly P. and Kum.

Likitha S. attended the conference on behalf of CPRI.

v “Short-time current” test at 25kA rms for 3 s with

62.5kA peak was carried out on 11kV indoor resin cast

Current Transformer as per IEC 61869-1 : 2007 & IEC

61869-2 : 2012 during 18th - 22nd April, 2016 for

M/s. Energypac Engineering Ltd., Dhaka, Bangladesh.

Mr. Mohammad Fahad Ibna Ilias, Senior Engineer and

Mr. Agnelo Gonsalves from M/s. Energypac

Engineering Ltd. witnessed the test.

v Ability to withstand short-circuits tests were carried out on 200kVA Three Phase Distribution Transformer as per IEC 60076-5 for M/s. Protec Electronics Ltd., Dhaka, Bangladesh during 26th - 28th April 2016. Mr. Sujan Baidya, Foreman from M/s. Protec Electronics Ltd., Bangladesh witnessed the test.

v “Short-circuit withstand strength” test at 31.5kA rms for 3 s with 66.15kA peak was carried out on 433V 1600A LV Distribution Board as per IEC 61439-1 : 2011 & IEC 61439-2 : 2011 during 27th& 30th May, 2016 for M/s. EWT Transformer Sdn Bhd, Jalan Permata 2, 71800 Nilai, Negeri Senbilan Darul Khusus, Malaysia. Mr. Kamarulzaman Bin Hashim, Senior Executive Engineer from M/s. EWT Transformer Sdn Bhd witnessed the test.

on 23rd & 24th June 2016 for M/s. Toshiba

Transmission & Distribution Systems (India) Pvt. Ltd.,

Medak District. Mr. Alok Bhardwaj, Deputy Manager -

International Marketing & Mr. S. K. Subhani, Engineer

from M/s. Toshiba Transmission & Distribution Systems

(India) Pvt. Ltd. & Mr. Paul Dyer, Transformer &

Switchgear Specialist from M/s. UK Power Networks,

West Sussex witnessed the test.

v 20MVA, 30/11 kV, 3-Phase transformer of M/s. Toshiba

T&D Systems (I) Pvt Ltd., Hyderabad was tested for

Dynamic ability to withstand Short circuit currents on

13-05-2016. Transformer was procured by

Government of Libya. Following officials witnessed the

test.

i. Mr Alsanousi Miftah Salim Abeder, GECOL, Libya.

ii. Mr Salim Elhadi Aburwais, PEWCO, Libya.

iii. Mr Yassir F. M. Ismaai, GECOL, Libya.

In-house Capability Building Programme on e-Office for

users of CRTL Bangalore, RTL Noida, UHVRL Hyderabad,

RTL Kolkata & RTL Guwahati.

v The Government of India has recognized the need to

modernize the Central Government offices through

the introduction of Information and Communications

Technology. The e-office Mission Mode Project has

been taken up by the Department Of Administrative

Reforms and Public Grievances (DAR&PG) in order to

improve efficiency in government processes and

service delivery mechanisms. NIC is the technology

partner of DARPG for implementing e-Office MMP.

e-Office is aimed at increasing the usage of work flow

and rule based file routing, quick search and

retrieval of files and office orders, digital signatures

for authentication, forms and reporting components

thus reducing paper usage and increasing efficiency

of work flow. This is also part of green initiative.

v e-Office framework presently consists of e-File,

e-Leave, e-Tour, Knowledge Management System,

Personnel Information System, Collaboration &

Messaging Systems, HR & Administration, Workflow

Automation, Document Management System.

v CPRI is implementing e-Office software developed by

NIC in Bangalore and its other six units Bhopal, Noida,

Hyderabad, Nagpur, Kolkata & Guwahati.Utility

Automation and Research Centre Division, CPRI

organized in-house Capability Building Programme

v CPRI employees actively participated in the training

Workshop on Service Book Entries :

v A workshop on Service book entries was conducted for the Ministerial Staff on 6th April 2016 from 2.00 to 5.00 pm at Swayambhu Hall of the Institute. Twenty two Officials were trained in this workshop. Smt. C. K. Anuradha, Assistant Director (OL) ADE (DRDO) was invited as the guest lecturer for the workshop. There was an interactive session and all the Officials participated in the workshop enthusiastically.

Workshop on Official Language Policy and Official Language Implementation.

v A workshop on OL Policy and OL Implementation was organized for the Ministerial Staff of the Institute at Swayambhu Hall from 10.00 am to 1.00 pm. on 11-04-2016. Dr. R. C. Sharma, Joint Director (OL), Ministry of Power highlighted the importance of OL Policy and briefed the participants about the statistical targets in the Annual Programme prescribed by the Deptt. of OL. Twenty Officials were trained in this workshop.

v One day Orientation Programme was organized for the Rajbhasha Adhikaries of all the Central Govt. Offices of Bangalore on 23-06-2016 at S. J. Auditorium

v Visit of Ms. Nor Hazimah BT Mustafar M/s Alaf Cekal, SDN, BHD 512664-M) Malaysia for witnessing L. V. outdoor Feeder pillar DIN type testing.

v Lr. Chandra W Soemitro, MBA, President Director, Mr. Vivien M. Liando, Director & Dr. Syarif Hidayat, High Voltage Laboratory, PT Zeus Prime Garda, from Indonesia visited High Power Laboratory, CPRI, Bangalore, in connection with testing of 150 kV GIS, on 23rd June 2016.

v NIMA POWER 2016 : CPRI Participated in the NIMA

POWER - 2016, held at Nashik, Maharashtra from

27th to 30th May 2016, organized by Nashik Industries

and Manufacturers’ Association. The Institute had

put up a 9sqm. Stall in the Exhibition and displayed

all its unique activities, expertise and credentials in

the areas of Research, Testing & Certification. The

services offered in the area of Field Testing &

celebrated at CPRI, Bangalore, on 29th June 2016. In

this connection, the blood donation camp in

association with M/s. K C General Hospital,

Malleswaram, Bangalore was organized on 24th June

2016. A quiz programme was also arranged on this

occasion by Shri. G. Pandian, Joint Director on 22nd

June 2016.

International Yoga Day Celebration

v “International Day of Yoga” was celebrated by the

Bangalore Unit on 21st June, 2016. Yoga and

Vyayamshala Kendras were inaugurated and opened

for the staff and family members on 21st June, 2016.

Booklets on common Yoga Protocol as downloaded

from Ministry of Ayush website were distributed

among the participants at the time of inauguration.

Workshop on Service Book Entries :

v A workshop on Service book entries was conducted for the Ministerial Staff on 6th April 2016 from 2.00 to 5.00 pm at Swayambhu Hall of the Institute. Twenty two Officials were trained in this workshop. Smt. C. K. Anuradha, Assistant Director (OL) ADE (DRDO) was invited as the guest lecturer for the workshop. There was an interactive session and all the Officials participated in the workshop enthusiastically.

v A workshop on OL Policy and OL Implementation was organized for the Ministerial Staff of the Institute at Swayambhu Hall from 10.00 am to 1.00 pm. on 11-04-2016. Dr. R. C. Sharma, Joint Director (OL), Ministry of Power highlighted the importance of OL Policy and briefed the participants about the statistical targets in the Annual Programme prescribed by the Deptt. of OL. Twenty Officials were trained in this workshop.

v NIMA POWER 2016 : CPRI Participated in the NIMA

POWER - 2016, held at Nashik, Maharashtra from

27th to 30th May 2016, organized by Nashik Industries

and Manufacturers’ Association. The Institute had

put up a 9sqm. Stall in the Exhibition and displayed

all its unique activities, expertise and credentials in

the areas of Research, Testing & Certification. The

services offered in the area of Field Testing &

Diagnostics, Consultancy, Third Party Inspection and

Training Programmes were also displayed which

The Government of India has been providing support to

State owned DISCOMS / Power Departments by extending

financial assistance through various programmes.

However, the State owned DISCOMS / Power

Departments have not been able to keep pace with the

growth in demand of electricity, resulting in critical gaps /

missing links in the sub transmission and distribution

network. The sub-transmission and distribution network

and quality power supply to the consumers.

Keeping in view the present financial condition of

DISCOMS / Power Deptt., Govt. of India initiated DDUGJY

and IPDS Schemes.

Govt. of India has launched Deendayal Upadhyaya Gram

Jyoti Yojana (DDUGJY) for the rural areas with the

following components:

(I) Separation of agriculture and non-agriculture feeders

facilitating judicious rostering of supply to agricultural

& non- agricultural consumers in the rural areas;

(II) Strengthening and augmentation of sub-transmission

& distribution (ST&D) infrastructure in rural areas,

including metering at distribution transformers,

feeders and consumers end;

(iii) Rural electrification, as per CCEA approval dated

01-08-2013 for completion of the targets laid down

under RGGVY for 12th and 1 3th Plans by subsuming

RGGVY in DDUGJY and carrying forward the approved

outlay for RGGVY to DDUGJY.

Rural Electrification Corporation Limited (REC) is the

Nodal Agency for operationalization and implementation

of the scheme under the overall guidance of MoP. Nodal

agency shall deploy Third Party services of outside

agencies / manpower for concurrent evaluation of project

implementation.

Govt. of India has launched Integrated Power

Development Scheme (IPDS) for the Urban areas with the

(I) Strengthening of Sub-transmission and Distribution

network in urban areas including provisioning of solar

panels on Govt. buildings including Net-metering.

(ii) Metering of feeders / distribution transformers /

consumers in urban areas and,

(iii) IT enablement of distribution sector and

strengthening of distribution network, as per CCEA

approval dated 21-06-2013 for completion of the

targets laid down under R-APDRP for 12th and 13th

Plans by subsuming R-APDRP in IPDS and carrying

forward the approved outlay for RAPDRP to IPDS.

Power Finance Corporation Limited (PFC) is the Nodal

Agency for operationalization and implementation of the

IPDS scheme under the overall guidance of the Ministry

of Power (MoP).

CPRI had been appointed as Project Management

Agency (PMA) for both DDUGJY and IPDS schemes on 1st

April 2015 by Odisha Power Transmission Corporation

Limited (OPTCL) for Central Electrical Supply Utility of

Odisha (CESU).

PMA will carry out all the works assigned to the utilities as

per the guidelines for DDUGJY and IPDS guide lines.

(I) DPR Preparation in the format of REC / PFC and on line

submission

(ii) Assisting in Bidding Process

(iii) Project Planning and Implementation

(iv) Quality Monitoring

(v) MIS and Web Portal Updation

(vi) Coordination with Nodal Agency / MoP

CESU consist of 9 Districts for DDUGJY works and five

circles for IPDS. The IPDS covers 28 towns.

CPRI appointed field representatives and posted at

Bhubaneswar to co-ordinate with CESU and OPTCL

officials. The back office officials at CPRI, Bangalore are

regularly attending review meetings held at PFC / REC /

MOP, Delhi and CESU / OPTCL, Bhubaneswar time to time.

CPRI assisted CESU / OPTCL officials for online submission

of DPR / Supplementary DPRs for DDUGJY and IPDS works.

CPRI also assisted for BOQ and Bidding process for CESU /
