Introduction and Background
▪ Northwest Arizona Community Liaison = Coconino & Yavapai counties
▪ Formerly with private sector for over 10 years, and community liaison since 2018
▪ Based in Flagstaff
▪ Assist the public and regulated community in regions of Arizona on ADEQ-related issues
What is ADEQ?
▪ ADEQ: Arizona Department of Environmental Quality
▪ Created in 1987
▪ Mission is to protect and enhance public health and the environment in Arizona
▪ Administer state’s environmental laws and delegated federal programs to prevent air, water and land pollution and ensure cleanup
Role of ADEQ Community Liaisons
▪ 6 Liaisons throughout the state
▪ Coordinate with ADEQ program staff to answer specific questions or resolve problems
▪ Provide permitting assistance
▪ Perform outreach on grant funding opportunities, and new and existing ADEQ regulatory programs and initiatives
▪ Share expertise on area issues
▪ Provide customer service as requested to the regulated community, the public, citizen groups, districts and local government
