CRANBERRY BAPTIST CHURCH QUARTERLY NEWSLETTER SUMMER 2012 “Remove not the ancient landmark, which thy fathers have set.” PROVERBS 22:28 Pastor Pauley I remember, as if it was yesterday, when I received a call from a board member of the Cranberry Community Church. It was in March of 1990, and I had now been preaching for six years. I was still working with the same company that I started with in 1970, and even though I was in upper management and making good money, I was seeking God's will in my life. Marcia and I had been praying and we wanted God's best for our family. Little did we know that God wanted us to leave our home church and step out to pastor our first church. By spring of that year, Cranberry called us as pastor and I preached my first sermon as pastor of the Cranberry Church on June 3, 1990 . Our children, Scott and Stacie, were only 14 and 10 years old when we came here 25 years ago! As we look back over these many years we can truly say, "God has blessed and He honors obedience!" I am humbled and grateful to the Lord for the opportunity He has given us to serve as your pastor these 25 years! God has brought us through so much and we praise Him for His marvelous wonderful work! To God be the glory! As I have reflected over these years, I praise the Lord, that God has used me in spite of me! Certainly there are some things I'd like to go back and do over; however, as the Apostle Paul stated, "...but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forth to those things that are before, I press toward the mark!” The question that I asked The Lord at the end of last year..."where do we go from here?" After much prayer and study, the answer is the same; therefore, we have selected our theme for 2015 from I Corinthians 4:2 "It is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful." BE FAITHFUL in our Prayer life, Bible reading, attending Church, in our Giving and Witnessing to others! Pastor! Staff! Deacons! Teachers! Leaders! Members! Every believer is a “steward” and we will give an account. Let's commit to The Lord to BE FAITHFUL! The Lord is blessing our church and I look forward to the days ahead! Let me encourage you to look over the schedule of events and special meetings for the next three months. I am especially excited about our upcoming Missions month and Revival! Please pray for these meetings and for our guest speakers! May God bless you as you follow Him! Spring 2015 June 1990 December 2014

“Remove not the ancient landmark, which thy fathers have set.”

PROVERBS 22:28

Pastor Pauley

I remember, as if it was yesterday, when I received a call from a board member of the Cranberry Community Church. Our children, Scott and Stacie, were only 14

and 10 years old when we came here 25 years ago! We praise the Lord for our new building and the stewardship campaign! In preparation for the construction of the new addition (which was dedicated on August 17, 2014), we implemented our first capital stewardship campaign on April 15, 2012. This stewardship campaign officially kicked off in September of that year with tentative commitments totaling $780,000. The total cost for the new addition came in a little higher than expected at 1.9 million dollars. To get the building project started the church voted to borrow up to $1.6 and in April of 2013 we started drawing from this amount to

pay the preliminary cost of construction. The original campaign goal was based on everyone’s three-year commitments and was actually set at three levels: $700,000, $850,000 and $1 million! As of this report we have received substantial donations and exceeded two of these goals! We have currently received $875,334. Our prayer is that we will be able to reach the third level of $1 million by September of this year! Should any member have a desire to increase their commitments or need to adjust their commitment due to personal finances, we want to encourage you to follow the leadership of the Lord. If you have not made a commitment and would like to participate, we hope you will get involved in giving sacrificially to the Lord! God bless each of you who have

prayerfully and faithfully given sacrificially to the Building Program! May we continue to BE FAITHFUL to the Lord! EQUAL SACRIFICE, NOT EQUAL GIVING

Master Clubs is an exciting program designed especially to teach children how they can serve God now. Master Clubs’ mission is to help evangelize, teach, train, disciple, and provide opportunities to children in our church from age 3 through 6th grade. The 3rd-6th grade Master Club Kids have been working diligently to prepare for their Regional Competition which will be held at Victory Baptist Academy in Beaver, WV on

Saturday, April 11. It is such an exciting thing to see children hiding God’s Word in their hearts. The Bible truths and Scripture they learn in Master Clubs will stay with them the rest of their lives. Many of our competition participants are preparing themselves to present the plan of salvation, teach a Sunday School Lesson, sing, and compete with instrumentals at Regionals. Please pray for each of our clubbers as they learn to serve the Lord and use the talents that God has given them. Remember that the children of today will be the church of tomorrow! It is never too early to begin preparation for Junior Camp. All children 8 years old up through 6th grade are invited to attend. We will be attending Mount Moriah Christian Camp the week of July 13th – 17th. The cost for each camper is $195.00. If you pre-register by April 15, you will save $25 as the total cost of camp is reduced to $170.00. If your child would like to attend camp this year, please make your $50.00 pre-registration check out to Cranberry Baptist Church by April 15. The Master Club FUN Night is scheduled for Friday, March 6th. Please be sure to have your children here at the church for this activity! The activity will begin at 6pm. and end at 10pm. For more information on Master Clubs or upcoming activities please contact Ty Thomas at 252-9631 or e-mail [email protected].

“He is not here, but is risen.” Luke 24:6

Our missions month begins on Sunday, March 1 , 2015. Throughout this month we will place a special emphasis on all of the missionaries we have serving around the world. This year’s March for Missions Sunday and International Dinner will be held on March 29. Our guest speaker is Dr. Edgar Feghaly, Missionary to the Middle East. We are delighted to have him as our guest speaker for three special services on Mission Sunday. Brother Feghaly was born in Lebanon to a Catholic father and a Greek Orthodox mother. At the age of 7, Edgar was saved in Sunday School conducted by a Baptist missionary who had established a church near his home. Brother Feghaly

and his wife, Rosann, met at Bob Jones University, Greenville, SC where he graduated with a B.S. degree in 1980. The Feghalys have served as missionaries under World Wide New Testament Baptist Missions since 1983. Dr. Feghaly’s desire is to reach Muslims and Arabs for Christ; plant churches in the Middle East; minister in Arab countries closed to traditional missions. Currently we have 37 missionaries serving in 25 countries not counting mission agencies and support groups for the various missionaries. As pastor, my desire is to see this number grow and the amount of giving increase. In addition to our Faith Promise giving, Cranberry also allocates 10% of the church’s monthly tithe to missions. I am convinced that it is Biblical for a church to pay tithe on the tithe received “to preach the gospel in the regions beyond! To our church family, let me encourage you to be faithful in grace giving. This includes our tithe and offerings “as the Lord has prospered you,” and your “Faith Promise” missions giving. Please pray for all of our missionaries and our March for Missions in 2015!

BIBLICAL PRINCIPLES FOR FAITH PROMISE GIVING

1. Faith Promise Giving is Scriptural. (II Cor. 8-9) 2. Faith Promise is a Source of God’s Provision. 3. Faith Promise Giving is not a Pledge. 4. Faith Promise Giving is trusting God for what I do not have now. 5. Faith Promise is a commitment to God. 6. Faith Promise giving should be entered into prayerfully.

Faith Promise is a major spiritual decision in the believer’s life. It should not be entered into without thought and prayer. Oswald J. Smith once wrote: “If I waited until I had it, I never would have given it, because I never would have had it. I gave a Faith Offering and God honored it.”
