THE CRATHORNE VILLAGE PLAN QUESTIONNAIRE

STEERING GROUP MEETING OF 5th OCTOBER 2009

1. STEERING GROUP

The following individuals indicated their willingness to participate in the Steering Group, for the purpose of preparing the Crathorne Village Plan.

For information these people were

Lord CrathorneDavid, Susie & Joe DugdaleMike OrrPeter & Jaine MannsChristine DaynesStan & Cath HigginsPeter & Gill GeiserGeorge & Shirley CookeSarah & Richard HodgsonGeoff & Gina BroughtonMadeleine Brown

If there are any additions or deletions to this list, could these please be advised as soon as possible.

2. QUESTIONNAIRE

A total of 48 completed questionnaires were returned from the total issued of 67, giving an encouraging strike rate of over 70%.

The questionnaire was divided into subject areas for convenience. These were

Road Safety, Environment, Services, Facilities, Social Activities, Village Communications and Planning for the Future.

The replies are summarized into

“Cause for concern” “Positive comment” and“No comment”

The results were discussed separately for each subject area, and these are attached for information.

Page 2: Crathorne Village Plan Questionnaire

The number in the “Cause for concern” column indicates the degree of wish for change that resulted for each particular question within each subject area. The larger this number is (maximum 48), the greater the perceived need for change of some sort.

So, for instance 46 returns under “Cause for Concern” for Speeding (Road Safety), indicates that almost everyone agrees on the need to bring in controls of some kind, whereas the 0 returns under this heading for Electronic Newsletter (Village Communication) would indicate that everyone is happy with the current status quo.

Within the context of the subject areas, we agreed that all Village green/play areas should fall into the Environment category rather than Facilities, as some were on the questionnaire, and the attached results reflect this change.

3. ORGANISATION OF THE NEXT STEPS

Given that some areas had much higher returns under “Cause for Concern”, than some others, and that certain subject areas were naturally associated with certain others, it was agreed that we would group the subject areas for further study as follows

a) ROAD SAFETYb) ENVIRONMENT with SERVICESc) FACILTIES with SOCIAL ACTIVITIESd) VILLAGE COMMUNICATION with PLANNING FOR THE FUTURE

It was agreed that a working group should be set up to examine the replies for each of the above four combined areas, with a view to drawing up draft proposals to suggest to the Steering Group.

The following indicated their willingness to participate in each particular working group

ROAD SAFETY Mike Orr (Chair) George Cooke Simon and Luan Morgan Stan and Cath Higgins Paul and Jane Kitching

ENVIRONMEMT / SERVICES Christine Daynes (Chair) George & Shirley Cooke Susie Dugdale Stan & Cath Higgins Mike Orr Sarah Hodgson

FACILITIES / SOCIAL ACTIVITIES Shirley Cooke (Chair) Maurice & Joan Calvert Joe Dugdale Sarah Hodgson

VILLAGE COMMUNICATIONS/ Madeleine Brown (Co Chair) PLANNING FOR THE FUTURE Craig Dennis (Co Chair) Geoff Broughton Sarah Hodgson David Dugdale

The following also indicated that they would be willing to assist in some capacity, as required

Rosalind Platts, Graham Daynes, Florence, Eileen and Bernard Smith and the Bells

The Chair person of each group may therefore wish to approach any of the above, or indeed any other member of the village, if they feel that they could help with the deliberations of their particular group.

4.DRAFT PROPOSALS FOR THE VILLAGE PLAN

The individual replies to the questionnaires are with Mike Orr. Each group should refer to these as many have annotations in the margins or written suggestion that are not included in the attached results.

We agreed that the Plan should eventually include positive comment regarding things that we wish to leave as they are, as well as suggestions for change in other areas.

It would be worth highlighting within the Plan those items which might be quick wins, in the sense that we can just get on and do them, as well as those items which are more difficult and longer term and may require external funding

The Plan should basically be a summary of the things which we feel we would like to change for the better, which would make a difference to the life of the Village.

We agreed that each Chair person would convene meeting (s) of their area, with a view to discussing the issues in greater depth, reviewing comments made on the questionnaire, and coming forward with draft ideas for tackling the questions within that specific subject area at a further Steering Group meeting to be held on November 16th at 7.30pm in the Crathorne Arms.

The idea would be that the Steering Group as a whole would make comment on these draft proposals such that each working group would then be able to go back and draw up definitive proposals for its area to be presented at a later date. Peter Manns
