HOW TO BUILD YOURENTERPRISE GLOSSARY

AREAS First, create the necessary areas. The area directories can then be used to organize the glossary entries that have been created.

FIELDS Next, create the required fields. Fields are the smallest unit within the glossary.They are used to create templates and ultimately glossary entries.

TEMPLATES Fields can be combined to create templates. Templates can contain different categories with fields, formulas, or SAP information.

SYNCHRONIZATION OF SAP INFORMATION (optional) With licensed SAP integration, the required SAP objects should be synchronized so that the objects can be used in the required glossary entries.

GLOSSARY ENTRIES Produce your glossary entries on the basis of the created templates. While templates are independent of areas, glossary entries are assigned to an area and placed in the area directory.Select the SAP objects for the glossary entries so that the required SAP information is displayed in the glossary entries. Upload attachments such as existing documentation to the glossary entries. Link glos-sary entries with each other to map relationships and dependencies.

ABBREVIATIONS If you use abbreviations in the profile texts, you can display the meaning or several meanings by mouse-over when a glossary entry is displayed.

INDEPENDENT FORMULAS Create formulas to use in other formulas or glossary entries.

GLOSSARY ENTRIES, TEMPLATES AND FIELDS Make any necessary changes to the components of the glossary over time. The changes to fields and templates are passed on and new versions of the affected glossary entries are automatically created.

The Enterprise Glossary is installed on a company web server. Users can easily access the glossary via a browser (MS Internet Explorer 11, MS Edge, Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox). The glossary data is stored in a separate, central database (MS SQL Server) and retained in the server‘s main memory for optimum performance during operation.

Through optional SAP integration, SAP BW systems can be connected as required and the metadata can be read. Both custom and SAP-specific function modules are used to connect to the SAP systems.
