Monochromatic color palette could help

Monochromatic color schemes give a peaceful feeling to the room. The eye can move around easily

without any abrupt interruption by any other colors. The idea is to use different values of these colors –

like different shades to add depth and interest to the space.

Whether you choose individual mirrors or large mirrors that go from floor to ceiling – they simply work

Size and proportions of the furniture

Heavy furniture or skirted sofas make the room look too full. Select pieces of furniture with raised legs.

The idea is to select furniture that has less visual weight so that the room looks bigger.

Lower the lights

The lighting levels need to be at the floor, table or eye level. Anything higher than that could spoil the

show. The point is to limit the shadows. So, hang those pendant lights as low as possible to create a

perfect mix of lights and shadows and create an illusion of space.

Raised and widen curtains

Another way to create space is to extend the curtain rods beyond the actual windows. This is true in

terms of the height as well as the width. It give the illusion that the window is larger and ceilings are

taller. Just in case you have two windows on the same wall – use just one curtain that spans across both

of them. Hanging separate pairs of curtains will unnecessarily chop up the continuity and make the wall

look small.
