Observe1.

Clinical ImmersionParticipants were divided into six teamscomprising of Doctors, Engineers and Designers along with a Biodesign mentor. The teams were shown videos of clinical observtions which were taken in emergency medicine department, of a tertiary care hospitalTeams were allotted a time of one hourto collect as many observations with negetive outcome, excluding process and system needs and concentrating on product based needs.

Day 1

The workshop started with introductions followed by a talk on study and analysis of Indian healthcare ecosystem

Docket creation2.

Unmet Need Identi"cation and Filtering

Each team had ten to twelve observations at the end of the observation stage.Based on the observations collected, problems were identifed in each and docket consisting fequency, criticality, cost of predicate devices, epidemiolgy etc was created. These Needs were then funnelled by following a structured "ltering process whichtook into account weighted scores based on epidemiology, frequency, cliniciansfeedback, market size and stakeholder analysis to arrive at the top two needsTop need was selected based on the interest and inclination of the team members.

Brainstorm3.

Brainstorming

The teams started the next day by goingback to their drawing boards to brainstorm for solutions that address the problem in the top need statement. Thisexercise lasted for an hour and a half. The solutions were then screened basedon feasibility, complexity, depth of research required and existing competion. One "nal concept was selected for prototyping. After the session a talk was delivered by Mr. Siraj Dhanani explaining the participants purpose of Commercial Viability Assessment (CVA) and implementation techniques

Develop4.

PrototypingThe teams were given materials to prototype their concepts usingmaterials such as thermocol, clay, cardsheet, lego blocks and other similarmaterials to get a look and feel of theproduct which can be used to gatherfurther feedback before developing amore re"ned prototype.A lecture was deliverd by Dr. Jagdish Chaturvedi on Market and Business factors and IP protection and licensing processes

Develop Present5.

Final Presentation and FeedbackThe teams were given 5-8 minutes each to present their concepts and prototypes and were given critical feedback by a panel of experts. This was followed by vote of thanks and conclusion of the workshop.
