Creating Accounts
Benefits of Creating an Account (depends on publisher!)
• Save article citations
• Save searches and receive e-mail alerts
• Receive alerts for new issues of selected publications
• Some do not require an account, just an e-mail address.
EBSCOHost Databases
EBSCOHost – Personal Account
By creating a personal account – you can save your favorite articles securely, and much more!
To create an account, click Sign In to My EBSCOHost.

Enter appropriate information, submit, and follow any additional instructions.

If you have a personal account – sign in before starting your research session.

While searching, you might want to save a list of articles you’re interested in.
If you’re on the search results screen, click Add to Folder.

If you’re looking at the article record, click the add to foldericon.

To see your list of saved articles, click on the Folder option at top right of screen.

This is a list of articles saved under an account.
You can also organize these articles into different folders.

You can also share one of your folders with people that you’re working with.

Just enter appropriate information, and click Invite.

To you have a research topic that you would like to be kept informed of? EBSCOHost will run searches for you on a regular basis.
First, run your search.Then, click Alert / Save / Share

Click E-mail alert in the pop-up box that appears.

Enter the information needed so that EBSCO can notify you when new articles matching your search are available.
This includes noting how frequently you would like to be notified. Click Save Alert when finished.

Just like search alerts, you can also be notified when the most recent issue of your favorite journal or magazine is available.
(If it is included in an EBSCOHostdatabase!)
(Note: You will need to ensure that the library does have access to current issues of the journal in order to do this!)

In an EBSCOHost database, click Publications at the top of the screen.

Enter your journal title in the second search box, and then click browse.

Click on the title of your journal.

When viewing the journal information, click on Alert / Save / Share.

Enter your contact information and any other preferences, and then click Save Alert.
ProQuest

Choose Publications to search for your desired journal, magazine, or newspaper.

Search for your publication by its title.

Be sure that your publication has full text, and that the date range says “current”. Click on your publication.

Confirmation screen. You will also need to respond to a confirmation e-mail.

You can also be alerted to articles of interest as they are published. Simply search the databases.

ScienceDirect
Creating accounts and alerts
ScienceDirect – Create an Account
ScienceDirect requires that you first create an account before creating journal and search alerts. After this, you may log in when using the database.

Complete registration screen and account will be instantly created. Check your e-mail to learn your username.

Favorite searches can be saved to your account. Simply run your search…

Enter a name for your alert and the frequency for the e-mails. Once saved, you should see a confirmation message.

To set up alerts for your favorite journal, change to a browsesearch.

Enter your journal title and be sure to un-check “abstract only”. Note that a dark key symbol indicates that full-text is available.

Choose Alert me about new Volumes/Issues. You should immediately see a confirmation message that you are signed up for the alert.
Sage Journals Online

Sage Journals Online requires that you first create an account before creating journal and search alerts. To create an account, choose sign in.
