Creating Motivating Learning Environments: YOU MATTER
As Principal of Booker Middle School, I have gained a deeper understanding of the key attributes of motivating learning environments and what those learning environments look like. As we approach for FSA Testing season, I’m reminded of Helen Keller, who said, “Optimism is the faith that leads to achievement. Nothing can be done without hope and confidence”.
This week, I encourage you to reflect on your achievements as a contributor to our learning community. What opportunities have you taken to build the skills and knowledge necessary to help your student(s) achieve? How confident are you in your student’s ability to succeed? As parents, you are an inspiration to your scholars and his or her learning community. I encourage you throughout this testing season to continue inspiring you student(s) and Booker Middle School to achieve their goals. For what you plant now, your student(s) will harvest later in life. Have an amazing month!
Sincerely,
Dr. LaShawn Frost, Principal

in being one of the officers in the newly formed BMS Chapter of the
National Society of Black Engineers and she is a participant in the
new venture to have BMS students mentor a VEX Robotics Club at

On Saturday March 30th our VPA classrooms were filled with parents and community members coming
together to raise funds for the Visual and Performing Arts Program. Each attendee got to attend 2 VPA
workshops and got to choose from 2D/3D Art, Chorus, Creative Writing, Dance, Drumming, Drama,
Graphic Design, Modern Band, and Orchestra. After the fun-filled classes everyone went to a reception
with delicious food, an incredible DJ, dancing, and a silent auction. Everyone had a fabulous time.
Thank you to everyone who sponsored, donated, attended, or volunteered. There is so much we can
accomplish together.
