57th BetonTage – Creating value
Be it industrial or residential construction, kindergartens or roads: building shapes the spaces we live in and has a long-term effect on the environment. It thus creates a huge responsibility for the const-ruction and building materials industries.
Innovative, sustainable structures and products are required. Resource-saving and environmentally friendly materials and manu-facturing processes should be used whilst continuously improving the energy efficiency during the construction and use of buildings, as well as their durability.
The BetonTage congress will focus on these topics, presenting inno-vations and products designed with the future in mind and outli-ning latest trends and advancements in building materials techno-logy, process engineering and standardization. The event intends to deepen the sharing of experience and expertise between the market partners whilst providing inspiration for building sustainably. For the potential of concrete is far from being utilized fully: the (precast) concrete industry has a lot to contribute by offering smart products that create long-lasting value.
We look forward to welcoming you!

ACCOMPANyING PERSONS PROGRAM
5 FEBRuARy 2013 13:30 – 17:00Beautiful views
This time, our traditional guided tour through the Ulm cathedral will provide access to otherwise locked chambers. Get to know some of the hidden treasures safely stored under the high and wide cathe-dral roof. Enjoy a tour through the quire vault to have a closer look at the giant roof structure extending above the nave, then step outside and continue along the balustrades next to the water reservoirs. Be prepared for stunning views and inspiring insights all along the way - and get to see architectural history from a different angle.
6 FEBRuARy 2013 9:30 – 12:00Bananas bananas...
It’s “all bananas” at the banana ripening facility of the Ulm fruit logistics center. Transported to Europe on refrigerated cargo ships, green bananas are stored in more than 50 ripening rooms in order to “wake” them from their “sleep”. Only in these rooms do the bananas ripen to become as yellow and tasty as we know them. The ripening master ensures perfect ripening results. Enjoy the guided visit and let him introduce you to the art of modern pressurized ripening, complete with a banana tasting.
6 FEBRuARy 2013 14:00 – 17:00 All kosher
The Jewish community of Ulm finally got a new home 74 years after the destruction of the old synagogue by the Nazis. The new synagogue is situated at Weinhof, near the old location, providing a place where people can meet and pray. The distinctly shaped 17 meter high cube accommodates not only a room of prayer but also a library, an assembly room, a kindergarten, a mikvah and a kosher food store. Rabbi Shneur Trebnik will guide you through his new center of activity.
