Book, music and lyrics by Lionel Bart. Director: Miss Alice Culpin, Musical Director: Mr David Elliott Assembly Hall, 7pm – Tickets £12/£10 This award winning musical by Lionel Bart, brings the ground-breaking Charles Dickens’ novel, Oliver Twist to life. 9 year old, orphaned Oliver escapes the depressing life of the workhouse, and sets out to find the love of a family which he has never known. He is thrust into a whirlwind adventure through the criminal underworld of Victorian London, finding friendship in some unlikely places. His involvement with Artful Dodger, the leader of a gang of young pickpockets, run by the eccentric, yet strangely likeable criminal Fagin, turns sour when Oliver is accused of a crime he did not commit. Kind-hearted Nancy tries to protect the young orphan, along with Mr Brownlow much to the disgruntlement of the dangerous villain Bill Sykes. Wednesday 28 November EVENING OF MUSIC An Evening of Chamber Music Music School Auditorium, 7pm – No Tickets Required An evening featuring our smaller ensembles that rehearse each week in the Music School, including trios, string quartets, woodwind, vocal and brass ensembles. Repertoire will include Come What May from Moulin Rouge. Wednesday 12 December JUNIOR SCHOOL CHRISTMAS CONCERT Assembly Hall, 7pm The children of the Upper Primary will bring Christmas cheer with a huge range of seasonal music, featuring orchestral, choral and ensemble music with traditional carols for all to join in. Thursday 13 December P4/P5 JUNIOR SCHOOL CAROL SERVICE Polwarth Parish Church, 2pm Singers and players from Primary 4 and Primary 5 celebrate the Christmas season in the beautiful setting of Polwarth Church. Friday 14 December P6/P7 JUNIOR SCHOOL CAROL SERVICE Polwarth Parish Church, 2pm The turn of the pupils in Primary 6 and Primary 7 to celebrate the Christmas season in words and music. Sunday 16 December HARPS OF GOLD Queen’s Hall, 2.30pm Tickets available from the Queen’s Hall Box Office A family concert of Christmas music old and new featuring Na Clarsirean – Edinburgh’s Harp Orchestra, and performers from the school. Performances will include Rimsky Korsakov’s Capriccio Espagnole, a Boy Band Tribute, a Beatles medley and Cliff Richards’ Summer Holiday.

Nightclub star Velma’s serving time for killing her husband and sister after finding the two in bed together. Driven chorus girl Roxie’s been tossed in the joint for bumping off the lover she’s been cheating on her husband with. Not one to rest on her laurels, Velma enlists the help of prison matron Mama Morton and slickster lawyer Billy Flynn, who turn Velma’s incarceration into a murder-of-the-week media frenzy, thus preparing the world for a splashy showbiz comeback. But Roxie’s got some of her own tricks up her sleeve…
