Creative landscape photography experience in The Netherlands
28th – 31st October 2019
Just 3 places available on this small group training and self development experience.
A Unique experience
Small group personal training and self-development experience
The Netherlands in the autumn is beautiful, and offers striking photographic opportunities of colour and contrast. Straight lines of trees with overhanging reflections in canals in contrast to the gnarled trunks of the ‘dancing trees’ will leave you surprised and amazed at the landscape of the Netherlands – it’s not all cheese, clogs and windmills – though I can guarantee you will taste the amazing Dutch apple pie!
Join International award-winning photographer Charlotte Bellamy for 3 days of creative development. This experience will not only offer numerous wonderful landscape photography locations, but it will offer you the opportunity to explore your creativity, improve your skills in creating projects and encourage you to step out of your comfort zone! Set in the beautiful Dutch countryside, Charlotte will welcome you to her home and will guarantee a relaxed, supportive, positive and fun learning experience.
This experience is available to only 3 participants to ensure the most optimal learning environment.
Who is this experience for?
This creative experience is aimed at anyone who has a desire to develop their photography further. Technical assistance will be offered for ICM and double exposure work, but it is expected that you are competent with your camera. The creative theory sessions will challenge you to look at your own and other photographer’s work to understand and expand your creativity.
This experience is ideal for anyone stuck in a rut, lost your mojo, unsure of your direction with your photography, or anyone looking for a chance to experiment, explore and have some time to themselves for their photography. And of course anyone wishing to learn more about ICM.
In the last four years Charlotte has developed her photographic style away from traditional landscape photography using Intentional camera movement and multiple exposure techniques to create fine art images depicting not only what she saw, but also what she felt in these locations. She aims to create images with feeling, movement, colour and contrast. These three images shown above are a combination of both techniques. The images below are examples of her woodland ICM work.
About the event
You are welcome to arrive at any time during the 1st day at your convenience. Late afternoon we will get started with ICM and double exposure theory. So that when you are out photographing you will have a good understanding of the techniques.
During the two full days, each day will include a full morning of photography (this can be extended according to the group wishes). The locations chosen for this experience are the stunning woodlands of the east of the Netherlands. Speulderbos famous for its ‘dancing trees’ and the beautiful Veldhorst estate near Lochem offer unique woodland avenues photographic opportunities. Both these days will have early starts at around 6.30am to ensure optimum arrival times at each location.
In the afternoons we will return to the comfortable and spacious environment of Charlotte’s home. Here we will explore a range of subjects that will encourage your creative photographic development. Subjects include creating projects and portfolios, multiple exposure work, developing a style and editing.
The last day’s activities will depend on the leaving time of participants. But if you choose for a late afternoon flight, we can fit another morning of photography in either at the beautiful Veluwezoom National park, or a local canal, which offers fantastic autumnal photographic opportunities.
Breakfasts will be en route to locations to ensure optimal arrival times. Lunches will be local to the photographic locations. Dinners will be in the beautiful old town of Doesburg where you will be staying.
28th October – arrive at your own leisure. If you can co-ordinate with the other 2 arriving for flights then Charlotte will come and collect you from Schiphol (Amsterdam airport). Otherwise it is recommended to take a direct train from the airport to Arnhem (1hr) and Charlotte will pick you up from there. The 1st technical theory session will begin at 16.00. Please plan on arriving into Amsterdam airport before 13.00 if possible.
29th October – early start and full morning photographing in the beautiful Speulderbos. This stunning woodland is unique because of its twisted and gnarled trees. Offering a fairytale location in which to photograph. It’s a favorite location of Charlotte’s for both traditional landscape and more creative work. We will have lunch in the cosy woodland hunting lodge, before returning for the creative afternoon session at Charlotte’s farmhouse. Dinner in Doesburg.
30th October – Early start for the Veldhorst Estate near Lochem. This beautiful location offers multiple and varied tree lined avenues within the woodland. We will have lunch in a local village before returning for a creative afternoon session at Charlotte’s farmhouse. Dinner in Doesburg.
31st October – Veluwezoom National park and/or Apeldoorn’s canal – all possible options depending on individual preference. The day will finish around lunch time. I can drive to the airport if everyone is going at the same time. Alternatively, you can catch the train. Either way the travel time is around 1.5 hours so this should be considered when booking your flights.
