History Of Ealing
The first map of Ealing was
made in the eighteenth
century and gave an
impression of what the parish
looked like. It was mostly
made up of open countryside
and field, where, as in
previous centuries the main
occupation was farming.
However, there was an
important road running from
the west through the centre of
the parish
It was during the Victorian
period that Ealing became a
town. This meant that roads
had to be built, drainage
provided, schools and public
buildings erected. The man
who was responsible for
much of this was Charles
Jones Borough Surveyor from
1963-1912
