Our Mission

Our service works with consumers to dispute any inaccuracies on their credit reports with the three major credit reporting agencies to help them obtain an error proof credit report.

Our staff has over 25 years of experience successfully helping hundreds of thousands of consumers regain financial control of their lives and improve their credit profiles.

Our goal is to restore the customer’s purchasing potential so they can afford to buy a home, start a family, travel, invest or start a business.

Let us help you make good credit and financial independence a reality, not just a dream!

The Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) was passed by congress with the intention to regulate the credit reporting agencies and promote the accuracy of the information in consumer credit reports.

The Act spelled out all the rules and regulations that the credit-reporting agencies had to follow before they added anything to a consumer’s credit report. Information about “you” has to be accurate and verified before it is entered on your credit reports.

The Federal Trade Commission is the government agency responsible for enforcing the FCRA

The Fair Credit Reporting Act of 1971

The 3 Major Credit Reporting Agencies (CRA’s)

Experian (Fair Isaac Corporation) Equifax (Beacon) TransUnion (Empirica)

What do the CRA’s do?

Collect and maintain information about consumer’s credit history. This information is obtained from banks, credit card companies and various financial institutions.

The CRA’s sell this information to lenders and other creditors.

The CRA’s are not part of the government.

What’s the definition of “inaccurate, erroneous, or obsolete?”

Inaccurate information is any information that cannot be verified by the CRA and/or the creditor grantor.

Erroneous information is any information that has been entered onto a consumer’s credit report due to human error (data entry error), Social Security Number mismatch error, mixed file error, similar name error. “reasonable procedures” were not followed when the information was entered on the credit report, or any such related error. This happens more often than you think!

Obsolete information is any information that is beyond the industry standard of seven years; or ten years for bankruptcy.

Page 6: Credit Restoration Presentation

Are Credit Reports Accurate?

Nearly 80% of all consumer credit reports have significant errors 25% of which are serious enough to potentially result in a credit

denial These errors could affect credit scores by 50 points or more

How do these errors occur?

Loans, payment data or credit card information is applied to the wrong account

When filling out credit applications with different names, i.e., Bill Smith versus William Smith

Your Social Security number was entered incorrectly on the application

A clerical error was made when the lender transferred the data from the application

What Are Credit Scores?

A method that uses statistical models to evaluate your credit worthiness

Reflective of a borrower's past payment history, outstanding credit balances, and available credit capacity at a given point in time

Creditors use these scores, known as FICO scores, when deciding whether or not to offer credit to consumers

FICO scores range from 300 to 850 points

5 Ways to Establish Credit

Apply for a gasoline or department store charge. These are usually easier to obtain than other credit cards.

Apply for a secured credit card. You will be required to deposit a specified amount, usually $300 to $500 dollars into an account in their bank, and you will be issued a major credit card in the amount of the deposit.

Take out a small loan from your credit union or bank. Deposit the money into your savings account and pay the loan back monthly.

If you currently have credit, ask your creditors to increase your credit limit. This will improve your credit utilization ratio thereby improving your credit score.

If you do not have a checking and savings account, apply for both. Having these accounts establishes you as part of the financial community and allows you to manage your money.

Secured Credit Cards

One of the best ways to establish credit You will be required to deposit a specified amount,

usually $300 to $500 dollars into an account in their bank, and you will be issued a major credit card in the amount of the deposit.

Report every 30 days to the credit bureaus Downfalls of these cards:

If payment is one day late, additional fees of up to $40

Over-the-limit fee of $40 Potential for the account to spiral out of control
