Creo View Installation Documentation

The PTC Creo View products (old name Productview) are lightweight viewers for Pro/Engineer and Cadence product data as well as non-CAD data (Ex. PDFs).The Creo View products are integrated into the Windchill PDMLink/ProjectLink data management system and will launch automatically when the thumbnail is selected from the document’s details page.

Client InstallationOnly one CreoView client needs to be installed in order to run any of the Creo View products, Creo View Lite, Creo View Professional MCAD, or Creo View Professional ECAD, integrated with Windchill PDMLink/ProjectLink for viewing Pro/Engineer or Cadence Data as well as non-CAD data.

Creo View Upgrade Installation Steps

NOTE: If you already have ProductView Lite V9 M110 installed on your machine, you can use these steps to upgrade to the latest Creo View client from Windchill 10.

1. View any published CAD Document Commonspace Details Page from a standalone and select the thumbnail in the upper left hand corner as shown below. (Note: if you select a CAD Document that has not been published there will not be an image in the thumbnail. Selecting the thumbnail will send the CAD Document to the publisher before the client is installed. Close the publish monitor window and refresh the details page until an image appears in the thumbnail.)

2. Select “Install New Version” from the dialog window that appears

3. Select “OK” to navigate away from this page dialog box.

4. You should now see the “Welcome to the Creo View installation page for Windows” menu as shown below. Select the “Download Help Files” and “Import Filters” boxes as shown below and select “Upgrade”

You will see a “Creo View 1.0” dialog box during the install. BE PATIENT!!!!!

5. You will see the “Installation Finished” dialog box once the installation is completed.

Creo View Installation Steps (Alternative Method)You can install the Creo View 1.0 client before attempting to view any models by selecting “Quick Links – Software Downloads” from the right corner of any page.

1. You must first “Agree” to the License Agreement as shown below after selecting the “Software Downloads” link

2. Select the “Creo View Installation” link from the Setup and Installation section of the Software Downloads page. The same menu will appear as in Step 4 of the Creo View Standard Installation Steps documented above. Continue installation of the client using the remaining steps of that section of this document.

Configuring the Creo View ClientYou can configure the Creo View client from the Creo View Options page. You can access this page from the File menu as shown here.

You can configure the Creo View client to load the MCAD, ECAD, or both licenses as needed on client start from the options page. You must fill in the “License Servers” with: “[email protected];[email protected];[email protected]

You can also set up the Creo View client so that ALL models load automatically when start from Windchill. NOTE: the user preference in Windchill has no effect on this functionality. It MUST be set in the client options.

Removing Old Productview Standard ClientIn Windchill V9.1 you had the option to run Productview Lite or Productview Standard. The step above can be used to upgrade the old Productview Lite to Creo View. In the case of Productview Standard, you must manually remove that client from the Control Panel – Add/Remove Programs as shown below.

Starting the Creo View Standard client outside of Windchill

The Creo View client should now be available from you Start – Programs menu.

The client (shown below) is now ready for use.
