The Fall 2018 semester saw a boom of manufacturing progress on the CR19, a multitude of outreach opportunities across our community, new members joining our team, and an excellent start to another year with Crimson Racing. Now that 2019 is here and our members have returned to Tuscaloosa, we are looking forward to what these next few months have in store before we return to competitions over the summer. Looking ahead, team members will, as always, work hard on producing the CR19 and ensuring that it looks and operates the best it can. Our business team will continue to reach out to companies and develop a presentation for the upcoming competitions. We are excited to share our progress this semester, and throughout all of 2019. As always, we are thankful for all of our sponsors and their continuous and generous support. Roll Tide! In the Shop... Before team members scattered across the country for Winter Break, significant progress was made on the car and strides continued to be made even without school in session. Most notably, the frame was completed and sent off to receive a powder coat over the break, which keeps it from rusting and allows it to hold its appearance for an extended period of time. Accomplishing this within this time frame allows for car assembly to begin right as team members return for the spring semester. We are grateful to Alabama Powder Coat, who contributes to this process every year, for their help and support. Additionally, the CR19's carbon fiber bodywork was finished with the help of Max Glaser and his family. Their next project includes working on the wing molds and associated parts. Our suspension team, led by Matt Pilus, made substantial progress on the A-arms and a plethora of smaller parts; meanwhile, our friends at M2 Performance Solutions were close to finishing our bell-cranks as of early January. ...and out in the racing community From December 6-8, Crimson Racing left our home state of Alabama behind for a few days and headed north to Indianapolis, IN for the annual PRI (Performance Racing Industry) Trade Show. Four of our team members -- Zach Hagan, Oakley Prell, Adam Parks, and Tony Vangeersdaelen -- attended the event, where our team was grateful to have the CR18 chosen to be a Featured Vehicle. This gave us the opportunity to showcase our car alongside other industry-leading vehicles. At PRI, team members spent the days of the event showing the CR18 to those in attendance, visiting booths to meet with companies who offer services and products helpful to our team, and speaking to numerous other companies about potential partnerships and sponsorships. All in all, attending PRI was a valuable experience that gave our team the opportunity to interact with over 1,100 exhibitors all gathered together for the purpose of racing. (Finally, it wouldn't be a trip to Indianapolis -- especially for a formula team -- without a visit to Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Those who attended PRI enjoyed a tour of the race track and the surrounding city in addition to the main event.)
