I would like to thank our parents for assisting in this process and ensuring the children are on time and ready to learn every day. We have a current enrolment of 152 students. This means we will stay in our 6 class structure. We will be hosting our ‘Meet the Teacher’ parent information afternoon Disco & Sausage Sizzle on Wednesday 21st February 2018 from 4:00-5:30pm. We encourage all parents to attend to find out what is happening in your child’s class and how you can support their learning at home. Please complete the form sent home last week and return to school by Friday 16th February 2018. Leading for the future One of the focus areas of our 2018-2020 school plan is leadership. Our aim is to provide opportunities to build the leadership capacity of all members of the school community. Last Thursday at our assembly, we acknowledged the Cringila Public School Student Leadership team and presented the students with their badges. These students understand their roles and the importance of following our PBL school expectations. Leadership Day Stage 3 students have also participated in a Leadership day gaining many skills to enhance their leadership potential. Thank you to Mr Brown from ‘Explore, Discover, Act’ for providing such engaging activities where the students gained a deep understanding of what it means to be a leader through challenging and higher-order thinking tasks. Coles Sports for Schools Cringila Public School is participating in the Coles Sports for Schools program. Through this program, Coles donates free sporting equipment to school. When you shop at Coles, you will be given a voucher. Please place this voucher in the collection box in the school foyer. For every voucher we collect, we can order sports equipment to the value of the vouchers. So start collecting and bringing them in!

Swimming CarnivalCongratulations to the students who attended the swimming carnival last Friday. It was great to see the sportsmanship displayed as they tried their best in the pool and encouraged their peers from the edge. Students going to District Carnival will be given a note this week.

Life EducationThe Illawarra Life Education van will be arriving at our school this Week. All children will be attending a session inside the special classroom. In partnership with schools and the community, Life Education aims to educate the children Healthy Lifestyle Choices. Each year the children see a different program. We expect all students to attend and there is no cost for the students to attend.The sale of Harold Merchandise supports the Life Education program. If you would like to purchase any merchandise, please complete the form that has been previously sent home. Please also provide the CORRECT MONEY in an envelope with the item written on the face of the envelope along with your child’s name and class. This will allow the educator to process orders efficiently and accurately.

Parent Cooking morningTwice a term, Mrs Elhage hosts a parent cooking morning. This is a fantastic opportunity for our parents to cook, taste some delicious foods, chat and socialise. Our next one will be on Tuesday 20th February 2018 from 9:00-11:00. All parents are welcome so come along and have a great morning. We look forward to seeing you in the Red Gum Kitchen.

Breakfast ClubOur Breakfast Club has resumed again with many of our students enjoying toast, fruit and milk. This is a free program that operates every Thursday morning from 8:30-8:50am in the Red Gum Kitchen. Thank you to the Warrawong Food Hub for their support of this fantastic initiative, and to Ms Butcher and to all of the teachers who assist. Parents are most welcome to come and help.

Harmony DayWe are currently in the process of organising our Harmony day celebrations. If you have any links to a cultural group within our community, please see either myself or Ms Wheatley.

Basketball ClinicThrough our Sporting Schools Grant all students will be particiapting in a Basketball Clinic for the next few weeks on Thursdays.Students can wear joggers for those weeks on a Thursday.

Health Care plansThe wellbeing of our students is of upmost importance. It is essential that the school is kept up to date with student’s current medical conditions. To ensure this, letters and plans were sent to all parents who have indicated on the enrolment form that their child has a medical condition. If you received a letter, please ensure you have visited your General Practitioner and completed the health care plan/s. I look forward to discussing these plans with you this week. Thank you for your assistance in helping us support your children.Robotics ProgramOur enrichment Robotics program has resumed for 2018 and all students will be participating in Robotics Coding Lessons starting next week. Thank you to Robolink for your support with this fantastic initiative.
