No other students were involved.

Upon learning of a crisis the building principal would: Verify the

information/identify family liaison

Notify 911 (if appropriate) & district administration

Call together the building crisis team

Consider consultation with law enforcement to avoid interference with ongoing investigation

Devise a plan of action for the school:

Identify victims & secure personal

Prepare notification(s) to be sent home to parents/guardians including tips for helping their children cope, policy for attendance at funerals, follow-up meetings at school and resources, etc.

Prepare plans for follow up: rest of the week, day of the funeral, interventions necessary beyond the drop-in center remember needs of at-risk students, general population and ALL staff.
